@Hirz Most of the following ideas are fairly ambitious, but I hope they give you some inspiration. They mostly deal with providing Germany and Japan content during the late 1940's and early 1950's after a successful WW2, an area I've always found oddly lacking in Darkest Hour considering how far the tech tree and timeline goes.
@battles25 @pakotorino Many of these ideas could be appropriate for your Fatherland mod as well.
- Ability for Japan to enter the war, via decision, against the USSR with certain conditions fulfilled (Stalingrad/Moscow taken, doing well in Chinese and Pacific theatre, etc). Similar to Italy's opportunism against France in 1940 as happened in OTL.
- Expansion of Manchukuo into the rest of former Manchuria upon surrender of the USSR to Germany/Japan.
- Decision for an actual peace treaty between Germany and France after the UK surrenders. Options for Harsh/Moderate/Light terms (harsh could include creation of an RK Burgundy state, cession of territories to Italy, independent Britanny, etc)
- Negotiations and events about specific spheres of influence to clean up the map for Germany/Japan/Italy (
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Axis_power_negotiations_on_the_division_of_Asia_during_World_War_II)
- Decision to clean up the rest of the USSR for Germany after peace treaty + non-aggression pact expires after the Bitter Peace. Possible expansion of RK Moskowien and Ukraine states as per Generalplan Ost.
- Events for mass rebellions, integration, exploitation, and general management of Germany's conquests post-WW2, particularly the RK states. (
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wehrbauer)
- German colonization of the RK states that could force the player to take large IC/manpower penalties for long periods of time, making the final war against the USA/UK more difficult. (
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Generalplan_Ost)
- Creation of an RK Scandinavia (or Sweden/Norway/Denmark) via decision after conclusion of WW2. Option to include Finland at a severe cost or penalty.
- Events for a vengeful USSR to take revenge on Germany if they are still at war with the UK/USA. Millions of refugees pouring into the Urals and beyond to bolster their forces for a possible war of reconquest.
- If the UK surrenders and Germany is still at war with the USA, the USA should receive events protesting the ongoing pointless conflict against the New Order in Europe and shift its focus towards Japan instead.
- Event that discusses the "Living Wall" concept envisioned by Hitler in regards to the Ural Mountains (
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ural_Mountains_in_Nazi_planning)
- Tweaking of the USA AI to shift towards land divisions if they are under threat of invasion (UK/USSR has fallen) to give the player a real invasion challenge.
- Invasion of the USA should be incredibly difficult and the player should receive large penalties for attempting to do so, considering the nigh-impossibility of such a concept. Maybe if the UK surrenders, the player is forced to research more advanced Naval Logistics techs to even be able to reach the USA? Amphibious landing penalties? Tweaking of the USA AI to garrison the beaches with more advanced units? (
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Order_(Nazism)#Hitler.27s_plans_for_North_America)
- Mention or implementation of lesser known ideas like the Morgenthau plan upon a defeated Germany for the Allies.
- Management of Middle Eastern territories for the Axis powers after surrender of the Allies. Should the Middle East be managed by Germany or Italy? Should the native people gain independence? Will Germany gain allies in the region by fulfilling the UK's broken promises of a united Arabic bloc? Maybe this can be used against the UK during the war itself if the USSR surrenders and Germany turns its attention south of the Caucasus?
- Management of a conquered USA/USA puppet. Events that make it genuinely difficult to conquer or maintain control of the territories/puppeted state to reflect the fact that the population is heavily armed and bitterly resist occupation, forcing the player to keep forces in the area to stop rebellions. Destruction of IC/infrastructure in the USA to reflect general chaos and unrest.
- Decisions and events to decide the fate of post-WW2 Africa for both Axis and the Allies, but particularly a successful Axis that has removed Free France and the remnants of the UK from the map. Collaboration with South Africa? Creation of a Mittelafrika state? Expansion of the Italian or Spanish colonial empires? (
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reichskolonialbund)
- Challenging civil war events and rebellions for both Germany and Italy after conclusion of the war if Hitler or Mussolini's rule is challenged, or they die.
- If these events don't exist already, let the Commonwealth states negotiate peace if the USSR, USA, and UK have all surrendered. This lets the Axis player avoid the hassle of invading Australia, New Zealand, Nepal, Bhutan, etc.
- Decision/event for Turkey to enter the Axis if the USSR has or is near collapse. Promises of gains in the Middle East?
- More content/decisions around realization of the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere for a successful Japan, particularly events for their puppet Chinese government.
- Possible breakdown of friendly relations with a successful Japan upon conclusion of WW2, this could also provide interesting and fun end-game content and represent a "final" war for the player (
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Order_(Nazism)#Future_wars_against_Asia)
- Not much is known about German plans for South America, but the Wiki article briefly mentions a possible reorganization (
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Order_(Nazism)#Plans_for_economic_domination_in_South_America)
- Event chain to force Winston Churchill to abdicate or pressure the UK to negotiate peace with Germany if the USSR falls and the war continues to drag on. A propaganda campaign labeling Churchill as a war criminal and making him responsible for the downfall of the British Empire would be appropriate. This could lead to a low scale civil war between supporters of Mosley's ideology, British citizens that are simply exhausted of fighting, and loyalists to Churchill and his war aims.
