Naval mechanics are amazing in TRP, maybe you could take a look at it.
I agree I don't like the whole TC system but the Naval battles in TRP are great.It's not just carriers on both sides doing everything while the rest of the navy does nothing.

Do submarines even do anything? I played a game as Germany and went Sub heavy and eventually sunk every single British convoy and nothing was happening except the British ran out of Rare metals a few times but then quickly got them back so their ic went back up and that was only when they reached 0 convoys, the British divisions in north africa are still in supply and it seems like building any U Boots is just a massive waste of time

Well I once killed a million US troops in Iceland by destroying their convoys pretty sad actually..... I assume the problem with the british is that their colonies produce their own supplies.

These Japanese garrisons in Thailand still have no chance against experienced Indian units. Sorry, but JAP needs more everything (army and navy) to actually pose a threat for anyone.
Some advanced techs unlocked bugged units (such as IFV tech gives "UNKNOWN STRING WANTED").

That's the US revenge for UK event. One of the most ridiculous ideas translated into events. Historically, if UK fell USA would have had no jumping points for an European involvement.

Actually, it can work. US declaring war as revenge should not happen in 1940. In my last game on 2.1 I had a sealion invasion in july 1940, England fell by October and UK completely collapsed by December.
USA did not declare war on me.
However there is a trick, never allow Canada to capture one of the captured UK or French provinces. If you take it back, USA is almost certain to declare war, as they have an event called Germany invaded Canada which leads to an immediate DOW.

That damn incident that caused Japan to declare war on soviets still shows up. Not sure why. In the end I did the unorthodox approach. I completely deleted the ahistorical event and solvef that problem for now.

OK, I checked once more and found 4 "unknown strings":
- MIRV tech in secret techs
- modern nuclear submarine
- advanced missle destroyer (but I see that you already know this)
- two last corvette techs
IFV is ok.

And I'm pretty sure that one early naval tech (from ships slot) has wrong picture (double helix instead ship), but I'm not sure which one.

I really appreciate the latest update and subsequent hot fixes. This is my favorite mod when playing Germany.

With the torpedoes being overhauled by Edge of Darkness patch v2.2.18, the torpedo brigade needs to be removed from the submarines that is added to your build Que when accepting the plan Z decision (found in the mods file in the event folder) and also from the submarines gained by event 1000524 (found in the add_on file in the event folder). Not sure if there are any other decisions/events that have submarines with the torpedo brigades. Those two are the only ones I've come across so far.

I would overhaul plan z to add a little diversity. Make a historical version and w ahistorical versions. I would also add some corvette 1939 to the mix and maybe some heavy subs. Carriers should definitely be part of it, I don't understand the reason behind their removal and battlecruisers are neglected currently.
I would also add an event about the building of Bismarck and Tirpitz. Even though there are limitations by the 1935 Anglo-German Naval treaty, thosr could be built by event.
The fact is that Plan Z originally envisioned 10 battleships although Scharnhorst class was already included and the 2 Bismarck class were already under construction, so initially only 2 H class were laid down.
I might be able to exercise my modding skills by creating such an event, but a modification of Plan Z would be needed.

@it068 This is actually by design and unfortunate limitation of the game engine - I've included a customized Buttons.txt in /config/ that pauses the game when the spacebar is pressed. I can barely play the game without it. If you'd like to remove this, look in Buttons.txt and remove the line "shortcut = space" or change it to another key:

I've decided to rewrite the event that causes the USA to declare war on Germany during a successful Operation Sealion along with a few other changes. I plan to implement a new "Cold War with the Axis" event if Germany and Japan are allied and both the USSR and UK are out of the war, but this likely won't be in a patch and will instead be reserved for another major release.

Code:
- Rewrote event "Germany is invading the United Kingdom!" for USA to no longer declare war. The USA (if AI) instead now receives locked GAR divisions on its beaches for defense.
- Added new event "Germany is invading the United Kingdom!" for Canada to add garrison divisions on east coast for added defense.
- Japan must now be controlled by a human player for the ahistorical northern expansion paths in "Five Ministers Conference".
- Event "German-American Cold War" now has a delay time of 2 months instead of 6 months after surrender of both the UK and USSR.
- Corrected bugged tech names for various techs in the Cold War tech tree.
- Adjusted submarines built in "Plan Z" and "30. Unterseebootsflotilla" events in accordance with DH 1.05 torpedo changes.

I'm looking for a little feedback - is anyone else tired of the opening song (Carmina) with FDR's Day of Infamy speech overlaid on top of it? Any ideas for a replacement that isn't as overly dramatic after hearing it too many times? Flight of the Valkyries, or something similar?

If anyone missed it, I just released patch v.2.2.20 on the previous page as well.
