Hello everyone,
In stellaris 2.2, Ecumenopolis is very powerful and game-changing so I become to build my own ecumenopolis faster and faster as I play more games. I know Fen Habbanis from first league is pretty op and can be very early, however, I don't like restarting and RNG-dependent strategy. So this build I'd like to share is my approach to arcology rush build.
Main bottlenecks for ecumenopolis are 3 perks, 20k minerals and city districts, and anti-gravity engineering.
So my choice of civic is Exalted priesthood for unity and Mining guild for minerals. I think Mining guild is necessary but any civic providing base unity production is good alternatives to Exalted priesthood.
We need to prepare city districts decades ahead. Arcology project requires a planet having full of city districts. It takes 1.3 year or 1 year(if having assembly pattern) to build city districts without leader or governer bonus. This means it takes 20 years if I want to make my size 20 capital planet into ecumenopolis. So I started to build city districts since 2230 because I know I can hit Arcology perk in 2260.
Tips : If you are ok with micro, you can queue several city districts and save buildings of10-20 days left by shift click to bottom. Once all building queue are 90% done, you can delay by another building until you hit 3rd perk.
Anti-gravity engineering tech is tier 3. One need to finish 6 engineering techs of tier 2 in order to draw Anti-gravity engineering. This is what I've seen somewhere(I can't remember). I can confirm this is true. Tire3 techs never showed up until I finished 6 of teir 2 techs. Tiers of techs are shown in https://turanar.github.io/stellaris-tech-tree/vanilla/. So I started to research tier 1. When tier 2 first popped up, I always choose tier 2 techs to unlock tier 3 faster. Those rare resource techs are cheaper tier2, best choice to this build. This way I can luckily hit Anti-gravity engineering in 2243 among my first tier 3 choices. However I had plenty of tier1 or tier2 tech left atm. Even if unlucky draw, one can reroll tech choice through tier 1 or tier 2 techs after unlocked tiers 3 techs(usually 8,000 or greater cost).
Note that the same apply for gene-tailoring if you want Engineered evolution as 2nd perk. One needs to finish 6 social techs of tier 2 in order to draw tier 3 gene-tailoring.
Here are my playthrough in 2.2.4 (when it was beta branch), I started arcology project in 2259: https://imgur.com/a/EY82YRY
If you have another idea for ecumenopolis rush, I'd be happy to hear. If you tried my approach, feel free to feedback.
Thank you for reading.
