I hope that the 'monopolies' and economic development thing is well developed..
In EU it just seemd to be a consequence of the territores you settled, with little to do in them.
Also, the manufactories were too big... a finer grained system of more & smaller items could be more entertaining..

(I know htere is an opinion out there that the manufactories were too cheap, etc., but i'd say they just felt too expensive..
perhaps having a cheaper building that did not las forever would be a solution

AFAIK Victoria will have factories that may actually produce goods - so no simple +6 Income bonus for weapons factories in Iron provinces, but we get to produce the Iron ourselves.

This game covers the industrial revolution, and it would seem silly to me if you would not be able to build up "Steel" provinces by building up heavy industry, for example.

I wonder if the game will also try to represent the sort of constant boom and bust of economies at that time in which really governments had no idea on how to control. EU2 had the events such as deflation and good year but maybe something a little more complex.

I think if there were recessions where the government lost a lot of money and was forced to take out loans to maintain its operations would do a lot to make the game more difficult and realistic.

A more reallistic loan system over EUII might also be a good idea.
