EU4 was really easy on release. You could basically auto PU other countries just by marrying them and then doing a claim war.

Imperator looks pretty easy so far but there's no reason why that can't change. If people want more challenge, there will be more challenge.
Johan said they made the AI "dumber" as it was too opportunistic and aggressive. I read that as him saying it'd be too much for new players (which is the entire playerbase right now), and they'll slowly improve the AI as the game progresses and more people become familiar with it.

Well in regards of being easy, you sort of need to compare to real historical achievements. Take a look at Rome in 304 BC and compare it to 1 BC, that is what you need to be able to do.

Really? Then If you can take over half of Europe as an Celtic tribe it's proof that the game is super easy? I Don't believe people are worried about the game being easy playing only as Rome, but as any nation in the game.

The truth is no matter what nation you pick as a human player in a single player game, you will always be Rome in terms of expansion and conquest, just with different start conditions. Unless you deliberately choose not to expand.

All the gameplays I've seen, people expand very easily (Rome, Sparta, Tartessos, Macedonia etc.). I wonder if the game is really easy ... what do you think?

I am bit worried about this :(
That's subjective, I saw a couple playthroughs and I didn't find their expansion to be too easy or fast. It might seem easy to you because you're a veteran of Paradox games. IR is similar to EU4 and CK2 so that might be why you think that.

I watched ASPec´s videos today. He played Rome.
He proved in video 1 that he had not much ideas about the game. No idea about matching ideas for bonuses. No idea about Zones of Controll of forts. And several other things.

But he took major parts of Italy within 12 years after the start without any problems.

He appointed a guy with 20 corruption as gouvernor. I doubt that he even tried to play the game one hour before making his clips.

But this does not make sense and it has not any historical reality. A small country can not become a big empire easily and if you get it is because you are a really great player.

you could certainly find a nation like Albania or Byzantium from EU4 which requires couple (or dozens) of restarts to get going... challenge is there, depending on starting conditions

do people complain about Ottomans or France being too easy in EU4? oh, wait, some do

So the ai is already on the "less blobby" setting? I'd hate to see how awful the game is "supposed" to be.

I know there is a "Hard" difficulty. I only know of AldraHill doing an LP on it, as Rome. maybe that's where they put the old "more blobby" behaviour? I would hope they don't just delete this stronger AI

Every Paradox game will be easy, if you play a major power.
The question is how much does it take to turn a small nation into one
and Imperator seems to require quite little effort with general lack of uprisings and free coring. Aggressive Expansion also isn't a thing.

You're watching some streamers who jump on the strongest nations in the game. It's no different from playing France/Ottos in EU4 = easy.
The challenge comes with playing more difficult countries like tribes etc..

Sorry, but the things I have seen looked like picking Germany in HOI4 and conquering czechoslovacia and poland in 1936 and after that conquering france strait through maginot line because the player did not find the way around it.

Some people will say that the game is to easy and some other people will say, that this guy already played five hours of Vicky2 and because of that he knows all about PDOX games and he is very good.

No, on hard difficulty it's just the player gets some maluses and the ai bonuses but it doesn't change the behavior

they should have put that AI in the Hard / Very Hard settings. And later add it to normal :).

Some players will be going optimal in about a week. :D

I've seen several streamers just die over and over again. It probably will feel easy once the community learns the game and figures out the best strategies, but Paradox will, as always, simply balance the game as time goes by. I think we can expect some pretty heavy tuning the first months after release.

One of the problems I've seen watching Hashinshins stream is that the ai is too dumb to siege tribals since tribals pop out 0 stack tribal armies every month so they leave their siege every month to stack wipe the tiny stack of tribals. At 100 years into the game he routinely has all the ai empires barely expanding or always exploding.
