Defeating +3000k FE armies is such eye-gouging tedium

But neutron sweep = pop loss and loss of building slots (and hence those sweet FE buildings) - I find this new mechanic entirely nonsensical but w/e

So is there any easier way to takeover an FE planet and access all the buildings?

Becuase building slots are tied to pop count, lower pop count actually locks out building slots and destroys the building.
It ruins buildings. They can still be repaired from that, once the popuplation supports that slot again.

So I just tested it and it seems that indeed you can repair FE buildings now as long as you hit the pop requirement. I was actually playing several games where I danced around that because I assumed you couldn't.

So yeah... feel free to Neutron Sweep the hell out of them.

Personally I just bombard them until the armies are almost gone, and then invade. Tedious, but seems like the best intersection of war-exhaustion and reward.

One must pray that the Trade Rats offer to sell their garbage bombing technology, as well. +25% bombardment damage per outfitted "A" slot seems worth the upgrade cost by the time I'm looking to bombard FE worlds. Pretty nice tech, if you can get it.

Don't worry. Those FE buildings have been working for thousands of years without a day of maintenance. They'll survive a few months without pops so just rebuild them after the population builds up again.

I knew ruined buildings can be repaired. But just to be clear, a depopulated world does *not* have it's ruined buildings totally destroyed? (i.e. after neutron sweeping a planet, and sending a new colony ship to re-colonize it, the ruined buildings are still there?)
