For example. Franco was not playing nice, so I rolled through Spain, annexed it, liberated it to have a nice Spanish puppet.

Then I figured, what the heck, Portugal is right there, why not just blitz it and annex it and then liberate it to have another puppet. But after I took every Portugal province on the continent, it would not let me annex it.

So I assume they have some damn other province somewhere else. In these situations, is there an easy way I can find where they are, rather than just clicking on the map everywhere looking for them?

Thanks!

The way i see it going over the map is the easiest way. Best you plan ahead before starting a war.

You can of course go into the statistics to victory point distribution(or similar, i refer to the second statistic). There you can order a list containing all provinces with VP by who has control over the province. There you will find a list of all VP provinces Portugal has. Click on them you you will be directed to their place on the map. It is not really convenient either.

It really is best to directly use the map in the VP view.

Portugal was a great colonial nation so you should look for their Colonies all over the world! you are lucky since this game aint EU3 and portugal is not that spread all over.
Without looking at a map from the game
They should at least have 4 or 5 province with Victory points spread accros the world just from a historic point of view. since Paradox are good with history the game will probably reflect that

1st: The Azores, Island between Portugal and America,
2nd: MACAO Portugal trading port in China, equivalent of Hong Kong for the English
3rd: West Africa, probably around what is now know as Angola (south of Congo) Rich in Ressources but in this game it doesnt count because it wasnt that exploited, but still was a portugese trading port
4th: East Africa, just north of south africa, in the southern most part of mozambique.
5th: Indonesia, Timor Island, portuguese trading port in the region.
