Most of you may already know this, but this little bs strategy actualy works.
When a huge army is attacking one of your provinces, any you only have like 10000 men, I suggest splitting the army into 10 of 1000 each. This way, when the enemy is trying to move into a province, you can keep them in put by simply sending off one by one, those 1000 men against whatever giant is threatening you.

I already contemplated this idea but it just hit home yesterday when I was playing as Spain trying to take over the Incas. They kept sending these miniscule armies against me and it pissed me off because I couldn't move out of my province and deeper into the Inca territory. I have to do something quick because my war exhaustion is starting to pile up.

Works best with pure cav, especially against an army with cannon. You can be fast enough to attack to pin, immediately retreat, and turn around to attack again, all before they can make it across the border to attack you. It does get annoying when the AI does it to you, though:eek: .

I wholeheartedly agree.:D But ya gotta admit, the computer does it too (not to mention allowing itself to do things that it won't allow me to do)

someone else: "your bad!"
me: "no I'm not, I'm just evil."

Exactly, that darned computer. Since the computer is not programmed to 'cheat', whatever it does is in my mind fair; therefore, if I do the same it is fair as well. When playing human opponents I probably won't do such a tactic... unless money was involved, hehe.

I know how you feel... It happens to me so much that sometimes I want to rip all the hair out of my head!!!

Try bringing small armies as "scouts" to make way for the GREAT INVADING ARMY ;).
It works, and it'll b yours in no time  :D
