From reading the Dev Diaries i got some questions and ideas:
As i'm understanding the game i should be able to do this:
I watch the news and thoes french people piss me of again
So i start up HoI3 pick Germany as close to the Invasion of France as possible... I don't really want to get bogged into i campaign that will make me fail 3 subjects, because i'm playing HoI day and night (i study history, so i call playing paradoxgames studying
), so i just go AI control all over the place, but detach the 7th Panzer and go nuts through France like IRL.. Just a nice little game of HoI3...
But then some questions...
1. Can i just control 1 division and leave EVERYTHING else to the AI?
2. Will the high mobility and the ahead of main army spearhead give it an advantage compared to surprise, mobility and therefore hit and run attacks. = Ghost Division...
How will this work in reality ingame? A bit of detail if possible, becuase it could be fun sometimes just til go single army size or corps, since it seems the game now allows for this.
You could for a late upgrade also ad a kind of career building app. where you start of a corps level and the AI gives you an opjective (only with major powers like UK, USA, Japan, Germany, USSR and maybe Italy and France), when you complete it you get promoted to command an army.. Then army group, theater and finaly manage the whole grandstrategy... So as you would completely be following history for a long part in early game, while this could also be a good tutorial, but also be playable at high difficulty and demotion for failed missions.
Also adding preplanned opjectives for the theaters of the major powers would be nice, so as to keep the historic dimension.
Oh and historic events, please add sources, it is wonderfull when you play HoI and you come across something you never heard of before and wonder, where du i find more info. on that.
Sorry about the mess, just my ideas... The news comming out about HoI3 is so good i can't wait for the game, it seems you are making a fantastic game even better, keep up the good work.. HoI is by far the best games i have played, even though there was room for improvement (as with everything)..
