Could someone elucidate the Latin vs. Eastern mechanism? In know what the trait is, but how is it decided which trait a bishop gets? I currently am polish, and seems like my bishops get it kinda randomly. I know that it may be because I'm on the border, since in the west it's 100% latin and east it's eastern.
Also, during the schism, is it that provinces with a bishop with latin become catholic and a bishop with eastern becomes orthodox? Can the liege influence this? For example, a random county in Scotland was orthodox after the schism. What could have happened there?
