Hi Everyone!

We're happy to announce East India Company: Battle of Trafalgar, exclusively available for digital download at all major digital download portals from December 8th.

A complement to the original East India Company, East India Company: Battle of Trafalgar recreates the legendary naval battle fought between the British Royal navy and the combined fleets of the French and Spanish navies during the height of the Napoleonic wars in late 1805. Featuring historically accurate ships from all three fleets along with the key naval personnel of the battle, East India Company: Battle of Trafalgar is a simulation of what in reality was the most decisive British naval victory of the war as, led by Admiral Lord Nelson aboard HMS Victory, an outnumbered British fleet sank 22 enemy vessels off of the South West coast of Spain without a single ship of their own being lost.

East India Company: Battle of Trafalgar Features:

  • A re-enactment of the Battle of Trafalgar from both the British and Franco-Spanish perspective
  • Historically accurate ships from all three navies
  • Five real-life naval commanders from the era, including Admiral Lord Nelson, French Admiral Pierre Villeneuve and Spanish Admiral Federico Gravina
  • Take control of naval battle groups comprising of the greatest warships of the Napoleonic era
  • Real-world naval strategy of the era accurately recreated in the battle AI

Enjoy!

As one who generally skips the sea battles (too long and suck at it) I won't be getting it, and yes I thought the same thing. I guess we will have to see the price to make that judgement. Looks like a cash grab with a little changing of the EIC code.

I am quite puzzled by the decision to release this expansion. EiC is also about naval battles I understand that but I fail to see the connection between the battle of Trafalgar and the East India Company.
Will we have east india company battle of lepanto soon ?

This could be a dream come true. I'm hoping "Historically accurate ships from all three navies" means the ships will carry the different weights of broadsides that they actually had. The s-o-l involved ranged from 64 guns on some of the Brits up to 136 on the Santissima Trinidad. Also I hope that if playing from the Franco-Spanish side that the British AI will be using Nelsons' plan. Also, I'm hoping the weather and sea state to be historically accurate.

And please, do not lock the battle difficulty on normal like with Pirate Bay and Privateer. A purely tactical battle expansion like this begs to be played in simulation mode, and will probably have it's greatest appeal to sim mode players.

It's interesting I guess, but it's not really got anything to do with EIC. I'd much rather have some DLC that adds to core gameplay of trading and making huge profits. I want more stats, more ports, more trade goods, active warehouses, industry, standing trade orders etc.etc.

I agree, I am dissapointed they didn't put their energies into an expansion pack like you suggest. This latest concept has little interest for me and I won't be buying it.

I have to agree it doesn't have anything to do with East India companies or trading. But tactical naval combat is half of EIC the game, so it makes sense they might want to further develop on that part as well. Really I wonder if they shouldn't use the EIC game campaign engine to build a stand alone naval game.

You maybe wanna elaborate on that a bit? What's bad about it?
He & I both elaborated in posts further down on the forum page.
It is in no way a 'Battle of Trafalgar', just an extra large EIC quick battle with the ships and commanders named after the Trafalgar participants. They could have at very minimum put the Franco-Spanish fleet in lines perpendicular to the British

My base EIC game and other 2 expansions also began crashing whenever a ship surendered after I installed it. Maybe a coincidence, but I don't think so. I had to uninstall everything and reinstalled just the base 1.06 game and pirate bay for now.

Edit- Nitro did respond to my thread in the tech support section with a fix for the surrender bug
