Just curious what the forum thought would be the easier strategy to pull off for WC.

I'm attempting to win the HYW as England right now and enforce the union over France and her vassals; if I win I plan on attempting a WC. I may never actually integrate France seeing how vassal feeding is op right now, and having a Lucky Nation slave could be very useful.

However, would Austria revoking the privilegia in the 1470s be a better WC nation?

Do both, as England.

There's no reason England can't become HRE. Not sure whether you can do the early revocation referenced in the other thread, if you get the title later, but I'm sure there's some cheese you can use, if you're so inclined.

Note, however, that vassals and PUs now lose their lucky status when they become subjects. I forget exactly when it happens (beginning of next month? beginning of next year? reload?), but it does happen. Can't have a lucky March, either, FWIW.

Damn, and here I was hoping that I could rely on godlike French generals in the future.

HRE reform. England has to win HYW, then vassal electors, then take emperor, then pass reforms. Right now in 1.8, you can revoke long before England can even become emperor in some games (depends how long Austria's ruler lives, or if he dies early enough before you get electors). When you're getting ~1470 revoke times, despite needing to take more land as Austria you're still likely to come out ahead.

Are you sure? That would mean Sweden loses its lucky status off the bat.

I think it's only when a vassal; I'm not sure it's permanent? Like, Sweden is lucky when they're revolting.

I'm pretty sure they don't permanently lose lucky on game start!
I'm quite sure that lucky nations only lose the luck status if they become vassals or PU under a human player. So a human Denmark doesn't have a lucky Sweden under PU.

I managed to complete an Austria WC in 210 years (and I think it can be done in 170 years as long as you get a good king for the late 1500s/early 1600s), the ability to get a quick vassal swarm is incredibly powerful because it means you never have to worry about losing a war ever again. Even England with France PU can't DOW entire continent and win.

The fact that you have to eat more land as Austria is not a problem. In my run I consumed England in ~15 years after 3 trucebreaks while fighting multiple wars in Asia.

Another vote for 'Both'. Englo-French union can get elected Emperor, and has a strong colonial position (though not as good as Iberia). But you can use your French puppet to repeatedly pummel Spain and Portugal and eventually annex them, ensuring a quasi monopoly in the colonial sphere, while your eventual Privilegia vassals can be used to dominate Eurasia. Only Renovatio Imperii when you no longer need them to fight your battles.

The only tricky part is winning the HYW, itll take a few tries and mountains.

Edit: Personally I'm also a big fan of Orthodox Ottomans when it comes to WC potential tho. The location and the cheap cores are fairly neat, you can expand in every direction to reduce AE. Obviously they took a large hit with the new Leagues mechanic making it difficult to be Emperor, but if you can get a Westphalian peace its still possible to go HRE.

killing the colonizers is not a big priority in a WC right now, as long as you can wrap them up by early 1600s you should be fine. The only big danger is Spain getting around Africa and firing chain westernizations off in India but that takes a long time of inaction.
