Early Germanic Pagans converting to Catholicism?!

Hello, I'm new to the forum and hopped on here to voice this weird thing I've been seeing in my games. Recently, I've been seeing Germanic Pagans converting to catholicism in the late 8th century on the Charlemagne start date. I think it might be the events that spawn physicians of Christian origin that are doing it. Send help.

Unreformed pagans are vulnerable to conversion from "formal religions" (muslims, catholics, orthodox, etc... even Zoroastrianism after refounding the persian empire)

The AI usually send their "court chaplain" to convert nearby pagans, and the AI is very likely to convert when the option appears unless they are zealots... same happen with the "X courtier tried to convert me".

In case you are playin a pagan ruler... is a bit of a race to reform your religion until eventually all other Independent rulers of your fate get converted

Exactly, however, aren't pagans usually supposed to cast off most court chaplains until some later in the game? Usually, in previous games, my pagans converted late 9th , 10th, and 11th centuries.

You may have simply been screwed by the RNG. I've had games where pagans are converting before 800, and some where they are sticking around til ~1200 as unreformed. I think it is highly related to the moral authority of the two religions involved. In games with lots of Christian heresies showing up Catholic MA tends to drop and they seem slower to convert pagans.

So it's very unlikely the events that spawn physicians of Christian origin that are doing it.

Yeah, I noticed this too. In my past several starts the Scandinavians became Christian very early. On two occasions, they had formed the Scandinavian Empire before converting - so this may have something to do with it. Either they had a holy war against them, or were internally converted. Will pay more attention next time.

Its how my proto-Kingdom of Bohemia became Sunni, before the TOG event fired.

The invasion CB and Holy War CBs are very useful when surrounded by 2 different Unreformed and Catholics.

The court physician events are indeed firing for tribals, as I have gotten them. This has nothing to do with the decision, as court physicians will wander into your court via an event you have no control over. And I also have seen many people convert to Catholicism via this method.
