Wtf, I don't remember this being in the game a few months ago. From the very beginning amoeba fleet(s) patrol around my systems and destroy everything that happens to be close when they jump into a system. I just quit a game after just a few years when fleets of 800+ amobeas were destroying my mining stations and even a colony ship. Is this intended? Beacuse it made the game unplayable for me.

Bad luck. But yes, amoeba fleets are larger now, and patrol around randomly. It´s not as bad as you think though as there are fewer of them on the map in total, in some games you will actually not see them at all.

Randomly yes it's possible. But aren't you taking some fun out of the game by giving up? I mean Stellaris just gave you a gift of story, I'd run with it.

I've never had a problem with the nomadic ones flying around. The only trouble I've gotten from them is that I have to delay surveying a specific system for a time, and they don't last very long.

I have been in a similar situation where my home system was in the patrol route and I had mining stations near enough to the edge of the system to trigger the amoebas attacking them.

My solution to this problem was to build a basic military station with an FTL magnet near my starting space station since it is more than strong enough to kill the amoebas and then I studied their corpses FOR SCIENCE!
