This has the nasty effect that e.g. several major naval bases are no longer on the map if you don't change their ids accordingly.

That's true, it might be a problem I haven't thought of. On the first glance everything looks fine but yeah there are probably some provinces missing installations and others having installations they shouldn't have.

Just to name Oran, Toulon and Alexandria, which have got new ids. And there were several more.

The CORE devs plan to adapt their mod to AOD. Then they'll be able to make use of the brigaded ships. If you're adapting E3-CORE to AOD you can implement these already now, although cross-checking and changing the naval units will take some time. Keep in mind to add the brigades and to check the techs, if they're activated correctly.

Another issue is that CORE uses a slightly different resource system where some provinces have negative resources (to simulate consumption). Switching the map to E3 cancels this neat feature unless someone goes through the trouble of adapting the CORE resource distribution to the E3 map, which would be a ton of work I suspect.

Yes, fixing the resource distribution will cost you many, many hours... ;) Don't forget that the improvement of infrastructure will increase the consumption of energy. I don't know if they'll change this game concept but they handle also with this method the creation/expansion of synthetic oil plants which are now normally build on the map.

Maybe we should break up this task of modifying the province.csv in several parts:
checking/correcting the names of regions and areas
checking/correcting the status of infrastructure
checking/correcting the distribution of IC
checking/correcting the distribution of resources

This is needed to play vanilla AOD on the E3 map. In addition to this you have to do for E3-CORE:
checking/correcting the distribution of IC
checking/correcting the distribution of resources (including negative resources)

The real question remains how far has he got cross-checking and adapting the CORE events to the E3 map?

For the most part everything seems ok. Of course, I haven't played through every possible event sequence, but the default ones work.

I'm currently playtesting the CORE2 scenario on the E3 map and only a few events slightly malfunctioned. For example, the Munich agreement transferred all Sudeten provinces to Germany but one, so I've quickly fixed that.

There are many more events which have province ownership as a trigger or add/remove provinces/cores I can tell you. Since CORE is an on-going project you'll have to check the event files after each update.

Do you have any ideas about the cause of the warning upon loading the scenario that it contains errors, or how to track it down? It's the biggest problem I see right now.

Errors which cause a general warning at the end of the loading sequence of a new scenario seem to be mostly inconsistencies. E.g. misplaced units. Most errors give a separate warning so that you can correct the bug quite easily. If you have errors you have to check all your scenario files. Simply because of this I have offered you to use my adapted scenario files which I have checked thoroughly. You can simply copy the CORE OOB into these files. Then you'd have to cross-check the locations of the units. Misplaced Divisions are obviously harmless and can - thanks to nofog - easily be spotted, but misplaced planes and ships cause errors.

The scenario files have been to my big surprise already downloaded 640 times!? But this seems to be more than slightly exaggerated since the event files have only reached a total of 43 downloads. :confused:

I hope that I can finish revolt.txt tomorrow or Saturday, so that I can offer it for download.

Anyone who is already playing with the adapted events and encountering bug or typos should post them here so that I can update the files.

Where have you been in the last few weeks? All my posts deal with adapting the E3 map to the 1936 scenario of AOD. The answer to your question is quite obvious if you try to read what I've written. ;)

CORE for AOD has already been released, so I made sure that the brigaded ships work properly.

As for the distribution of resources, IC, and all that, I think I'll stick with the E3 default scenario values until at least I get it fully playable, then perhaps work on that.

Then you'd have to cross-check the locations of the units. Misplaced Divisions are obviously harmless and can - thanks to nofog - easily be spotted, but misplaced planes and ships cause errors.
All right then, I will try removing all the OOBs and see if the problem persists. If it doesn't, I'll just have to go through it and re-insert them one by one to find the error, thank you.

Also one other question - what happened to the HOI2 free_manpower command? This command doesn't cause an "unrecognized command" error upon loading, but as I've lately figured out, every time this command is invoked by player it causes a crash, no matter what country invokes it. How can the E3 map cause this event to malfunction? :wacko:

Also one other question - what happened to the HOI2 free_manpower command? If the command does no longer work properly, it's more likely that the devs of AOD have changed some of its code, maybe accidently. :( IIRC this was already reported as a bug.

Adapting AOD's revolt.txt to the E3 map takes longer as I have envisioned. As the major obstacle proved to be a single province (#781) in India which couldn't be given as a province to India. I was neither able to add it as minimum nor as extra. If I do add it and click as UK the Liberate Button and choose India, then I get an instant CTD while confirming this decision. I was only able to nail down #781 because I have added the indian provinces one by one to minimum/extra. This was very time-consuming and frustrating. Once I have even given this province to Pakistan - instant CTD after starting the liberation.

Does anyone know why I have this irritating problem with this special province? :confused:

Looks like a bug. If you could avoid the province...

Avoiding is atm the only solution. :( But one british province in the middle of India is quite unsatisfying... A simple solution would be to make an event which fires right after the indian independence and secedes this province to them.

Thanks to mumia's detailed map I can envision quite a handful of map based events which make use of his work. Suez Canal provinces or Tangiers may be prime examples.

Looks like a bug. If you could avoid the province...

Jounk35 has found the bug: provinve 781 has a river connection to itself instead to 729. See here.

As you can see he has also started to re-arrange areas and regions of the E3 map.

Then it was quite easy to update adj_defs.csv. While I was correcting the buggy river connection I also added the missing port in Ochotsk and the missing Kiel Canal (sic!). Both are now back in the game. Out of curiosity I have added the port of Hamburg, too. ;)

Oh, yes! ;) Not the climate map atm but you might start comparing the IC levels of vanilla AOD and AOD/E3. We might have to re-balance these and the resources. Some comments on Jounk35's first draft of the areas/region might be also a good idea.

I've got that too. I had no idea what was going on there, but now I know. Waiting for 0.6 to fix this issue I guess :)

I've got that too. I had no idea what was going on there, but now I know. Waiting for 0.6 to fix this issue I guess :)

The fix itself is quite easy to do:
1. open adj_defs.csv
2. if you search for '781' you'll find these two lines:
781;781;River;0;#
781;769;River;0;#
3. exchange in the upper line the second 781 with 729
781;729;River;0;#
781;769;River;0;#
4. save and restart the game
5. waiting isn't necessary ;)

Hi, I have nearly completed the adaption of revolt.txt to the map (USA, Russia missing) but have now encountered a small problem:
For testing purposes Japan annexes all chinese countries thanks to a modified event 3815. Now it should have all possible revolters available. But besides Men, Guangxi, Shangxi, Yunnan and Xibei always Nationalist China is available.

I have also amended the provinces of these two potential revolters:
U74 # Northern China (Japanese puppet)
U87 # China-Nanjing (Japanese puppet)

but sadly they never show up and can't be used as an alternative to Nationalist China. But if I add Berlin which is ofc totally unreasonable as a minimum requirement for a chinese revolter, Nationalist China is gone and both show up. How can I achieve this without excluding Nationalist China as an important revolter from the game? :confused:

re:releasing Russia

Does anyone remember which parts of the Soviet Union are not part of Russia? The three siberian revolters combine nicely and use all provinces eastwards of the Urals, but is the revolter Russia similarly constructed and is reduced by Belarus, Ukraine and maybe some caucasian minors? Or does it take the complete western half? :confused:
