A plain .txt file is the obvious choice. ;) We only have to know which changes we have to make to each province. Readibility is important. :)

All .csv files can be read by using excel or openoffice. ;)

But you're not supposed the edit the province.csv file, aren't you? ;) We have a 'master' province.csv file which is atm only edited by Jounk35. (we might reconsider this later) The readibility of your proposed changes is important to make it easier for him to include those into the province.csv file.

Your task is much simpler: start up the game and check the stats shown on the bottom of the ledger page 3 ('Totals'). The stats of the provinces have been rounded so that you have to check a province on the map if you're curious about its actual stats. But to compare the overall situation this isn't needed - not at the beginning of your task. On ledger page 3 you can see how the resource situation develops during the next days/weeks. And then ...

Simply compare the IC & resource levels of Arma, AOD and AOD/E3 with those of e.g. CORE to get an inspiration what is needed/missing. Then check the the wiki and look more closely at contemporary maps to identify major industries, mines, oil fields and railroads. Gather all needed province ids. Combine all these in an easy to use format so that the revised stats can quickly be included into the province.csv. :)

minor changes to the province.csv file - part IV

During the adaption to the E3 map I've discovered that mumia has reused the ids of several sea province. OK, this was to be expected, but if you search for these ids the sea provinces will center (your screen) on their old position, i.e. you won't find them easily on the map. ;) Their ids are

Please copy the 'army xpos/army ypos' of the 'second' column also to the 'first' column (city xpos/city ypos). Then the screen will center correctly. Since these provinces have been moved to other areas please try to find also proper names for them. :)

vanilla AOD ai files adapted to the E3 map

The adaption of the vanilla AOD ai files to the E3 map is finally done. I've included all changes made by the last patch. The last days I've checked the files again and re-adjusted the build priorities of many nations, especially the build priorities of their brigades. Most major will now 'brigade' most of their divisions while especially small minors will add less brigades than usual. re China I was undecided what to do: in vanilla they brigade 30% of their divisions which seemed too few so I've changed their mix and added some more variation (and upped them to 50 %) but have cut their priority for engineers from 20 to 5 %. To determine the best mix we'll simply have to play, play, play... :)

The adapted AOD ai files are now downloadable. You can find the download links if you follow my sig.

It includes:

+ the ai uses now the E3 map and acts no longer as it'd be playing with the vanilla map
+ the ai uses now the correct province ids
+ you'd see less odd ai behaviour while playing
+ the ai is now aware of all beaches - in defence and offence
- you'll see the ai building coastal forts where in reality none were built/needed
- you'll see the ai staging invasions in provinces where in reality none were possible
+ more reasonable provinces chosen for building of IC
- IC provinces have to be re-assessed later
- priorities for infra provinces are almost entirely missing
- infra provinces have to be re-assessed later
+ when the devs tell us how to use the infra commands correctly I'll add them

This may be a stupid question, but does the E3 Map contain more provinces than the vanilla AoD map? If so, how many more? In both the E3 mod and in vanilla AoD 1.05, the db/province file is showing 2,609 total provinces (with province ID number 0 through 2,608).


If the E3 Map has more provinces, are there any quick comparison stats of the E3 map vs. the regular AoD map? For example,
total # of land provinces
total # of sea provinces
total # of Europe provinces
total # of USSR provinces
etc.

Still, what you propose is interesting, just for comparison...

In any case, it's a truly beautiful map, there is no going back to default, believe me! ;)

The E3 v0.5 map was made for HOI2 Arma which sadly didn't support a higher number of provinces than 2608. To achieve the effect of a more detailed map mumia simply took many sea provinces away and reused their ids for land provinces in Europe or China.

In any case, it's a truly beautiful map, there is no going back to default, believe me! ;)

All event files have been updated to include all changes of the latest patch. But I'm planning to include a working bitter peace event series. As a first step I've moved the surrender events to a separate event file but even the shortened file has a size of 568K. It'll take some time to carefully analyze and to adapt the BP surrender events.

All 1936 scenario files have been updated to include all changes of the latest patch. The general review of the scenario files is halfway done. The naval side has seen some newscomers but these are mostly 'Oldtimers'. I've also started to re-assess the air bases which are mostly too large and are now - thanks to the more detailed E3 map - separated by too many provinces. This can be improved. ;)


What do you prefer? Do you want to have the changes made by the latest patch quickly or can you wait until I've finished my 'small' projects? :)

I think I have done something wrong trying to install E3-map over my AoD copy... :confused:

Once I choose in the menu E3 Grand-Campaign Scenario, following error message appears:

Critical error!

I press ¨to omit¨ (if I press ¨retried¨ program crash and return to Windows... :( )

After this, a second message appears:

---Couldn't open file:scenarios\E3-1936\vp.inc

Same here. Further, when I'm able to start the game there are "unknown string"s everywhere (see attachments).
Besides the menu-tabs and some descriptions, some of the options to start the game are unknown strings.

EDIT: Is it possible to make a 1.05 all in one rar archive, that would eliminate many errors on the user side and you could present a checksum to check the correct installation of the game.

Well, sir, I don't know about all of your problems, but as for the db\events\USA_AI.txt, you can safely delete that same file in the scenario folder, 0_gc_1936 txt file, since it is actually db\events\AI_USA.txt. Either that or place # before db\events\USA_AI.txt to ignore it on game start-up. Good luck on the orher issues... Un abrazo...

Since I had already updated all of the adapted event files to include all changes of the latest patch I've decided that it's better to upload them now because otherwise you'd have to wait too long to get them. Work on a satisfyingly working bitter peace event series will continue. We'll keep you informed when the BP surrender events are finally adapted.

1936 scenario files updated to AOD v1.05

Since I had already updated all of the adapted 1936 scenario files to include all changes of the latest patch and a good part of the re-assessment of the scenario files is also done I've decided that it's better to upload them now. The re-assessment of the scenario files (air bases, naval bases, OOB) is atm only a spare-time project which won't be finished soon. It wouldn't be fair if you'd have to wait even longer to get these files. Work on this project will definitely continue. We'll keep you informed when the next update is available. ;)

The updated 1936 scenario files are now downloadable. You can find the download links if you follow my sig.

Still lots of "unknownstring wanted".
It seems the config\extra_text.csv in E3 map v0.5a.rar is faulty, taking the original 1.05 file corrects the strings. I don't know however what was changed to include this file in the E3 mod.
The other bugs are fixed with the new files.
