I am forced to tender my resignation from the position of Treasury Secretary due to what I believe are illegal, arbitrary, and tyrannical actions of the current administration. As per the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 the military may not be involved in domestic law enforcement except when explicitly authorized by Congress. No such authority has been granted and in my opinion the current state of martial law is illegal. Furthermore, the recent detention of progressive activists is illegal and unconstitutional and is nothing short of authoritarian overreaching by this government. Mr. President, I joined this administration in hopes of serving the American people and I am afraid that I can no longer do so in good conscience while the administration walks all over the freedoms of American people.

The Principals of Democracy are at risk, and the Pacific States are now enemeys at war, and the laws of the Consitution do not matter to them. Ruling Honolulu/Hawaii as a free trade city would mean that the US could directly tax or tariff the commerce. Also, Hawaiians could not be made to serve in the armed forces. The laws and constitution would still have to be observed, although they would be open to interpretation by the local government of the free state (city council etc).
I agree with our Attorney General here. We are faced with a crisis within our borders. Illegal secession and acts of violence and injustice against our U.S. Citizens. This is war already. We cannot refrain from war when we are already in a war. Please Senator Stormbringer we are faced with a fact already that there is a violent war going on between the illegal PSA and the USA. Please do not leave the government for you are a viable part of it. We need you, the President needs you and your country needs you. I also try to uphold all parts of Democracy but now we have to defend it and not have internal strife over a part that says if it is illegal or not to declare war / martial law. We must fight!

Reinsitating martial law might cause dissent to rise though. There are rumors that General MacArthur has talked to fellow commanders about defending America from secession, Socialist Nationalism, and right-wing extermism.
