Playing as the US in the campaign game I note that the E-1b Tracer is available in 1949. According to Wikipedia (the font of all knowledge) the Tracer was not in use until 1958.

Edit: I see that the Tracer is only available for research in 1949! Kindly disregard my rant...

I would say it is still unreasonable to be able to develop such technology in such short time, in 1949 in particular. If new techs cannot be added as pre-requirements I would say that they should remodel the tech tree to make all unit design projects take an immensely longer time to complete (ranging from 1 to 5 years?), with perhaps some very early era techs taking significantly less time to research so that they can be obtained within a reasonably historical date, or starting out as having reached some stage of development or already added to known techs.
