Dynasty Name for Pepin's Descendants?

So in a 769 game I am playing, Pepin the Hunchback ended up with France and his dynasty, which was randomly named the Widinings (or something like that), has been doing pretty well for itself. You would think this would be one bastard with his own unique dynasty if not legitimized but that is not the case. They are actually French cultured but I still wanted to ask if anyone has a good idea for a dynasty name.

On a similar subject, the Capets got Middle Francia. I think it was one of the first Capet characters available, Robert, but I have no interest in naming the kingdom Robertingia. So, again, any ideas?

I'd probably use the founder's name for a dynasty- Pepinid or de Pepin would make sense. Otherwise I'd probably take the name of whatever lands I rule- perhaps something like de France.

For the Capets and Middle Francia, I'd probably leave the name as is, rename it to Capetia, or use the name that it would later have in history- "Lorraine".

The only problem with Lorraine is that that name is just a corruption of Lotharingia. I think Capetia is the best choice.

de France could work. I also looked it up and might go with du Bossu, which pretty much means "of/from the hunchback."

Yeah, honestly Middle Francia provided problems in real life too, it's why they named it after Lothar.

I renamed my Ilmen->Glorious Mother Russia dynasty to Rodislavid after its founder to get a more unique name (because Slovensky is apparently in the RNG pool for Ilmenian dynasties, and my first choice "of Novgorod" started popping up on unacknowledged bastards).

Of your suggestions, I like "du Bossu" personally.

Can't go wrong with humor: something involving baguettes is timeless, as is anything with "hon" in it.
You can also embrace the memes: House Pepe would do nicely.

Well the Capetians are a branch of the Robertians/Robertiner a German form (they also use the French one) is Rupertiner. The Pippinids united the Arnulfings (the Pippinid heiress Saint Begga married the Arnulfing heir Ansegisel, their son Pepin of Herstal was the Great-Grandfather of Charlemagne) are the dynasties, which eventually founded the Carolingians. What's the name of Pepin the Hunchback's heir? Though 'du Bossu' could also work.

I went with du Bossu, his heir was Charles II. The Capet's are no longer on the throne. I went with Kingdom of the Rhine, it is the northern border of the Kingdom and given it is elective it is wrong to say it is the land of any one clan.

I'm pretty sure the Karlings were only called the Karlings in hindsight. Correct me if I'm wrong, but most of these dynasty names were only used by historians.

Middle Francia always bothers me in the 769 start. Lotharingia is the only person-based name that doesn't look stupid, probably because nobody (in the English speaking world) is ever named Lothar anymore. However, I can't think of a proper name based on region or geography or local history.

A name, based on history (as it evolved in our time-line and not the OP's game) would support 3 different names for such a kingdom.

1. Kingdom of Arles (Imperial Arelat) - from Wiki: Its territory stretched from the Mediterranean Sea to the High Rhine in the north, roughly corresponding to the present-day French regions of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Rhône-Alpes and Franche-Comté, as well as western Switzerland. It was ruled by independent kings until 1032,[1] after which it was incorporated into the Holy Roman Empire.
2. Kingdom of Burgundy - Which is actually named after the tribal Kingdom of Burgundians and has been used for various entities of the area in question up to the EU time-frame
3. Kingdom of Dauphine - More limited regionally but that area of the "Frankish" realm had started to develop a unique culture and economy; almost surplanted the earlier Burgundian tribal identity in surrounding areas as well. Eventual title-holder of the French heir as well.

Well Francia Media consisted of Lotharingia, Burgundy/Arelat and Italy; the northern bit once the core area of Austrasia was only known as Lotharingia. Lotharingia wasn't named after emperor Lothar, but after his 2nd son king* Lothar II. (*= King of Lotharingia, though every Carolingian king was a king of the Franks).

Well, the first non-Capetian King was Vuitard and while a little weird-looking I think a Kingdom of Vuitardingia would be a pretty cool name.


EDIT: I ended up renaming the Kingdom to Rhénanie because they are French. Adjective Rhenish.
