Well, well! After 2 years of EUI I had my first dynastic inheritance yesterday afternoon. Playing as Brandenburg, I had been cultivating Sazony for a diploannex for over 20 years. Annoyingly, their alliance with France, Austria and Genova (which I afterwards beat soundly:D ) was getting renewed all the time, due to intensive warfare. But then, all of sudden, I inherited them! What a nice suprise.

How often do you experince these dynastic inheritances. I suppose that one of the reasons it succeded was a 190+ relationship with Saxony, but then again I tend to diploannex a lot, so I usually have pretty good a relationship with several neighbours, and I have still never tried inheriting anyone.

Another thought: Does the legitimate monarch have to die without any heirs (i.e. before the set date), before a dynastic inheritance can occur?

thats a rare (and great event).

my first time was inheriting the hedjaz as turkey; another game, my bavaria got hungary. there has been a few others.

i *think* you must have the best relations (or close to) with the country of inheritance. these relations should be high. as to your second question: i dont know.many events have triggers. have you tried looking the game files?

I inherited Venice as England once, which was good b/c they had just got territory from Turkey, and I was still at war with Turkey so I got a good base to strike at the Turk. Sucked though because this was in GC so I couldn't annex them...

It happened twice to me. The 1st time with my first play of the game with France. I inherited Hungary very early in the game and it was a mess. Hungary was totally landlocked, I was the bad boy since I annexed a 8-province country , and could not properly defend this territory. It was the only time I had to lose a province I wanted to keep to stop a war.

my impression is that hungary gets inherited more than most. i could be wrong.

I wouldn't go jumping into a civil war. They can be pretty nasty. :(

And here's to my 500th post!

I've never seen such a thing.

Is coincidence a reality, or a concept? No sooner did I read about "Dynastic Inheritance" than I did experience it in my game. Seems the monarch of Saxony died without leaving any heirs again. Does this happen to Saxony a lot in the game? Or did I just get lucky, too?
