Hi there,

I've been playing Cities Skylines again solidly for the past few months and have found that my cities get to the point where they look sterile and unnatural once too many high-rise buildings sprout up.

I know that you can control building height using regional policies, low-density areas etc but after looking at Google maps for some inspiration I've noticed that biggest factor to organic and natural looking cities are dynamic lot/plot sizes.

It would be awesome if you guys could come up with a way of modifying the game engine to support a much broader range of lot sizes that are not limited by grids, but Polygons instead. Real world urban areas seem to be determined by road layouts and terrain variances rather than a grid layouts.

If you guys manage to pull off a change to the game like this, I'm sure it will elevate you to citybuilder god status :p

Thanks for considering this! :)

Not only this, but I also feel that there are not enough tall buildings for a game called "Skylines", like there are literally 2 very tall office buildings, 3 tall residential, and 1 tall commercial. The rest are either unique buildings, or custom assets from the community. All of my downtown centers look identical, even with different road layouts.
The 4x4 lots can offer many tall buildings, but for some strange reason, all of the taller buildings are in the 3x4 lots, so they all look skinny to make themselves look "taller". Just imagine how tall or wide they could be with 5x5 or even 6x6. Good idea man.;)

yeah....and having everything always right up against the road. parks are sometimes oddly shaped. houses sometimes had huge front yards with long windy driveways and malls are surrounded by huge parking lots.
