Mmm, so, would it be possible for us to some-day get Dynamic Country names? For example it can be based on region/culture/or capital for some countries. Let me take a simple example, Byzantium(and perhaps it could quell some of the Byzantium threads?) It's name could be based on both in type of government, and its capital.

For example, let's say it's Capital is in Byzantium and it is Greek Cultured and it is a monarchy, it would be called The Byzantium Empire, if a republic, it would be called The Byzantium Republic. Likewise if you move the capital to Rome and culture change to Latin, it's name would dynamically change to The Roman Empire when a monarchy, and The Roman Republic when a republic.

Another example could the Ottomans. As a monarchy it would be the Ottomans. If it becomes a republic, the name should change to Turkey. It can also be done with Ming, though I am not 100% sure how. The country name can depend on the Dynasty of it perhaps? Like if the Ming Dynasty falls without outside intervention, it could change its name to the new Dynasty. If it becomes a republic, it will merely be known as China.

it would be nice to have button switch on/off between long and short country name including their rank and government type

Kingdom of France
Republic of France
French Empire
instead of 'France'
Serene Republic of Venice
instead of "Venice"
Commonwealth for pol-lit union when gov. is elective monarchy
or just Kingdom of Poland if gov is feudal/absolitive monarchy etc

I'm fine with just Duchy/Kingdom/Empire/Republic of [insert country here], but the names would be too long on the map. So my suggestion is make them show the whole name if the country is large enough to fit the whole name within it's borders, so France might show as 'Kingdom of France' if large enough and Russia might show as 'Empire of Russia'. It should also be possible to turn this off since it may irritate some.
