Bob,
Are you talking to me or the reformation guy?
On edits generally, my understanding is that I'll be carrying out all of the Papal/Harem/Boyar driven edits each week.
All,
The Crusades are the biggest problem, namely because the Ottoman Empire easily defeated the Christian coalitions arrayed against it early on, but can't be made as powerful as it was historically for game balance reasons. Meanwhile, I'm classifying wars to reconvert the Protestants as Crusades, which they weren't but could have been and were in earlier periods (see the Cathars as the best example). I think this needs some ironing out and I'll be talking to Absolut about it. Oh, and about the Reformation, for which I have a few ideas of my own (because I agree with the previous poster that the Reformation ought to have more to do with the Pope than it usually does).
One thing I think we should avoid is created a long list of rules and procedures, i.e. for the Crusades. This is an RP game, and as such everyone should be striving to play authentic, historical monarchs with authentic, historical interests. Going on Crusade and then ignoring Jerusalem and annexing Egypt (something that was tried historically) shouldn't be banned. Rather, the Pope and other Catholic states should react within the game.
Oh, and on the subject of Protestants, I didn't mean making it harder through additional means. I meant because the Pope can inflict RR and stab penalties if there are Catholic provinces and can encourage Catholics to make war for reconversion, it should be harder. In fact, I'll be most disappointed if we don't see the TYW and the Wars of Religion, and at least one or two traditionally Protestant countries not making it, at least until the 17th century.
