Duty from nowhere?

I just married off my eldest daughter to the son of the Count of Finnveden. I checked both the Count and the son before I agreed, the count had 6 gold and the son no gold at all. I received 67 gold when I took the duty but where did that money come from?

I believe you get duty of your average gold from the previous year.

Isn't the marriage duty is collected from your lands, i.e. an additional tax to fund celebrations. I think you confused it with dowry, which you would have had to pay if you marry away your daughter .
