Well here my my 2nd AAR ongoing (not counting Fan fics). It will be another gameplay AAR. This update will cover inital setup. I know the colors on the map are funky, the sooner someone sends me a default colorscales.csv the sooner it will look better.

Current Goals:

1) Build Line of Forts on German Boarder

2) Build Industry away from the mainland

3) Join Allies somehow

4) Take over some small country, possibly Belgium

Sliders, my move was towards Hawk Lobby:


Production, those sliders have been changed to give me more production from supplies. Also notice the industialization.


Tech. I'm researchin machine tools for IC and infantyry to beef up my army.


And finaly, here is the planned defence line. I plan on making it atleast strenght 3, but I don't know with so little IC.


I'm going to play ahead now, I'll give you advanced warning if I am thinking about invading a place. My main queston would be if attacking Belgium would draw anybody else in.

Looks nice.

I'm also thinking about starting a dutch AAR. But first I will have to finish a small "mod" I'm making for it. The main goal will be to restore the United Kingdom of the Netherlands (Netherlands + Belgium + Luxemburg) and some other territories.

Anyway, about your AAR.

You might wanna think about trying to get a deal with Germany. Something like: You give them military acces. They won't attack you.

Capturing Belgium will give you some more IC, but unfortunately the Belgium army is a bit larger than yours, so it will take some time before you are able to conquer them.

You can choose to built factories in Indonesia, but of course the Japanese threat is always there.

That's al what I can say about it now.

I've been thinking about the entire manpower problem with the dutch. This could be a solution.

Make an event where you can decide if you will start conscription in Indonesia. I think it had about 60 mil inhabitants around 1940, so that should solve your manpower problem.

Good idea, I'll add it as a Dutch Gearing up for war event. I have a nice new event maker too so It will make me happy. And here is a small update.

Well I decided to send two divisions there now, as all future build will concetrate on the mianland unitt it gets over run, if it gets over run that is.


IC production is up, I'm taking a small step to better IC.


Due to lack of MP and wanting to get the defences up in time, I stop infantry production for now and start the last segment. Good too, as you can see it will be done in the nick of time.


'36 infantry are done, So I start work on doctorines.


And on cue the SCW breaks out, see how desperatly I need that colorscales. The gray is the Nationalists the Yucky color is the Repubilcans.


Now I'm off to make that event!

Yup, you would get France on your ass quicker than you can say annexed. And with your sliders at the moment you wouldn't even be able to dow them...

And you'd better extend that fortressline to Rotterdam too if you don't want to see Germans attacking from the south...

This is from the event commands file

type = add_prov_resource which = [prov id/-1/-4] value = X where = [energy/metal/oil/rare_materials]  # -1 is random province, -4 is province with nuclear reactor.

So AFAIK you can't add manpower to a province by an event, only energy/metal/oil/rare_materials

Some suggestions:

I. Forget about IC and fortress buildup - too costly

II. Join the Allies to get blueprints and avoid DOW (some interventionism will be required)

III. Build as much infantry+arty as you can until you are ready for step IV.

IV. Annex Belgium and Luxembourg (some makeshift event triggers war)

V. Hope not to get DOWed by Germany yet

VI. Build more infantry+arty, as much as you can until September '39

VII. Let them suffer.

My suggestion:

- Conquer Belgium and Luxembourg (Flanders can be added to the core)
- september 1939, give the Germans millitary acces for 1 year. They will have to guarantee your independence.

If you manage to capture Belgium, make an event which makes Congo a puppet. I will PM you all events I made for my little "United Kingdom of the Netherlands" mod. It could be usefull.

Your sliders probably won't allow you to but they aren't guaranteed by anyone.

BTW what's the status of your army, navy and airforce? I never played the Netherlands so am curious as to what you start with...
