First of all, it should be a disaster, modified by how many provinces are protestant. Every protestant/reformed province gives 0.25 progress per month.

2: It should start as a peasant rebellion, and you get 2 choices

1: Increase taxes and send a general to crush the rebellion and eliminate the protestants:
Rebels change to Zealots.

2: Give the Dutch people their autonomy and let them keep their religion: All dutch, flemish and wallonian provinces get 100% autonomy, and autonomy cannot degrade there for the rest of the game. If the provinces get converted, the disaster will go further were it ended

Later on, depending on your choices, it will go from a peasant rebellion, to fullblown Dutch independence. And then you have a big problem.

The dutch will get:

+25% fort defence.
-50% movement speed for enemies.
+2% attrition for enemies, +5% max attrition.
+15% morale of armies and navies.
-0.05 war exhaustion.

This modifier is only in effect in their independence war.
And they will have rivals of the country that they declared independence from supporting them.

The AI will always go the Netherlands declare independence route.

3: if you destroy a stack, it is likely that another stack will spawn with the next kind of units in line.

This will make the Dutch independence war more realistic, and hopefully makes the netherlands survive more often

with 1.13 beta patch...burgundy have PUs with flanders and Holland...so when burgundy dies out they automatically get independent so dutch war of independence doesn't spark very often..Holland can form Dutch nation when they are free...even flanders too..

If you mean the BI(More like BS) event, then no, Burgundy auto-inherits them before getting given to Habstria on a silver platter.
