Guys, I've got a question. I started a game with DEI and by 1848 "the governor" is my "only party". I was wondering, do they ever get other parties? And if they do, is there something I need to do previously to trigger the event?

Just took a look at this. The Dutch East Indies tag is U90. Under that parties file, it looks like the Gouverneur-generaal party will be the only one available to you.This is probably to give playing as DEI many fewer options since you're more a less an appendage of another empire.
Pretty much.
We are planning on reworking the setup between the UK and India, as well as the Netherlands and DEI. This will allow for more parties to become accessible for those countries, and therefore more options available if the player chooses to take those countries in such a route. In the next version India will have more parties, and the basis of a chain which will lead it to getting dominion status (we are planning on making it a satellite before that) for future versions.
When I started playing with DEI I first edited the parties file and make some "governors " that I switched when it suited my plans. It´s easy and rewarding
