hi martin,

as semi-requested by you here, I have found some militairy leaders that had sufficient rank to be eligible to become leaders in the game. I'm not sure if you need some pictures or some more information, most of them only have a dutch wikipedia page but you might have other sources?

here are some:

Paulus Lambertus Grimmius (P.LG.) Adriani (fleet destroyer)

Heije Schaper (air)

L.H. van Oyen (land)

M. Boerstra (land)

S.H. Spoor (land)

Jacob Pieter (J.P.) van Helsdingen (air superiority)

also, some leaders are both in the Netherlands and DEI, I'm sure there are reasons to seperate them into 2 countries but it just feels like a bit of a mess. Not that it is that important :D

if you mod INO, you should keep an eye on HOL as well - as these are mostly the same people.

good sources are

http://generals.dk/nation/The_Netherlands.html
http://unithistories.com/units_index/default.asp?file=../officers/personsx.html
http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lijst_van_commandanten_van_het_KNIL

eg
Borstra http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murk_Boerstra is already in HOL (and INO i think)
Spoor http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simon_Spoor in INO (i think this is the right file for Dutch East Indies)
van Oyen http://generals.dk/general/Oyen/Ludolph_Hendrik_van/The_Netherlands.html should be in both already?

thank you bestmajor for validating my selection, I will take time to research your other sources. Thus I am going to need/spend more time to come up with a complete set of data to implement and validate one source with the other!

if you compare one source with another keep in mind they all copy stuff from each other (eg generals.dk from unithistories.com, and wiki often from generals.dk or unithistories.com and vice versa)

It's been a while since I made much progress on it, but I've been working on updating the leader file for the Netherlands and have so far come up with this:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AuWins7yvVPEdEJLZUFPVzU5ZHc0NGQzckltZ1VKOFE&usp=sharing

I've removed pretty much all the KNIL leaders from the file, so any that exist in the original Dutch leader list and not in this one are probably good bets for the DEI.https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AuWins7yvVPEdEJLZUFPVzU5ZHc0NGQzckltZ1VKOFE&usp=sharing

the problem is in real life they weren't seperated, so when holland fell in 1940, most high ranking officers we're able to get to england and went on fighting in DEI, also most sources on this are in poorly written german

I was under the impression that the KNIL was entirely distinct and separate from the Dutch armed forces. On this basis, I should be fairly trivial to keep the leaders in different files without causing serious problems for the historical accuracy of the game, especially seeing as the Netherlands isn't annexed by Germany upon it's defeat in Europe (and therefore keeps whatever part of it's armed forces that can be saved).
