During evacuation, waiting bus passengers keep waiting :-(

I am loving this Disaster DLC

One thing that looks unfortunate though. When you start an evacuation, all your city-busses instantly return to the garage (creating a hell of a bus queu towards the garage, but that is beside this point).
The bus passengers out at the bus stops however are still waiting patiently for hte busses that are no longer running. They keep waiting, despite the very visual fact that the entire city is rushing past them heading for the shelters.

Shouldn't the waiting busstop passengers drop their waiting and save themselves?

the first point can be solved by having multiple bus depots, i usually have one for the main city and then for my adjoining large towns have one in each. this should reduce the queue to your one bus depot.

i agree completely about the people waiting, it's amusing thinking that their stubborn refusal to stop waiting for a bus means instead that they're going to die. very existential, and people think the game isn't deep ;p

I've seen this with flooding roads as well. They'll stay there completely oblivious to the fact that the world around them is being consumed by the great flood. This might be bug where there's a script that says to the people-objects to stand and remain at the bus stop.

Ah, but the simulation does reflect real life. and this does happen in real life as well. There have been cases, such as the big Joplin Missouri tornado from 2011, where people sat at traffic lights texting away and tying up traffic lights while the EF5 tornado bared down on them.

Sometimes in real life emergencies some people do just stand around and don't know what to do. Probably not quite on this scale, but it does happen. In a survival training course I saw a video of a sinking ship, and a guy just stands there watching the water come at him as the ship sinks. He didn't know what to do. He was lucky people were there to fish him out of the water.

That said, yeah, most of the CIMs should start running!

I agree that it is also humorous and not a 100% unrealistic to see such behaviour from people waiting. They arrive at the queue and start waiting, detaching themselves from this world, until something (the bus arriving, the comet booming down towards them, lightning....) wakes them up again :)

I have seen people pull into a gas station with the station lights turned completely off (because the computers and thus the pumps are down) get out of their car take the gas cap off and act like they are going to start pumping gas into that car and then wonder why the crap nothing is happening. So yes, such a bug is not 100% unrealistic...lol

I've always wondered if the people in the real world are sometimes following scripts or program code to go about their business. :)
