I'm having a problem with my game...I picked the Hastings scenario and first played on 1.04a and then updated to the beta to see if it would fix this, to no avail.

I'm playing as the King of Pisa. My problem is that when I create a new Duke title (in this case, the Duke of Sardinia) and attempt to grant it to one of my sons, he is no longer a part of my kingdom. He simply becomes a lone Duke and the only way to gain him back is to either conquer him or somehow convince him to become a vassal. If I do this as other Kings (England, France etc.) the son becomes a Duke but stays a vassal of the King. I've tried granting other Duke titles as well (Duke of Toledo, I believe) and it does the same thing.

Am I missing something? If so PLEASE pardon my nubness and explain what I'm doing wrong. Thank you guys!!

Are you sure you are "king of Pisa" not "duke of Pisa"? I think Pisa is a duchy in 1066 scenario.

Yep. One of my titles is "King of Pisa" but it oddly doesn't display in the main scenario screen (where you can choose who you are) as a King. It's under the Duke section...
Bug?

Edit:
What's strange is that with the beta patch, there is no King of Pisa listed under the Dukes section at the main selection screen. However, in 1.04a, there was. I realized that I selected my ruler pre-beta patch, and applied the beta patch in hopes of fixing this problem. But I think the beta patch just took away that "King of Pisa" thing altogether and made him a vassal of Germany (in the scenario selection). So to sum up: I believe that the King of Pisa title was a bug in 1.04a that was addressed in the beta patch. Perhaps the King of Pisa title was actually not working/equivalent to a Duke title and not a King title.

Oh well. Thanks for your help :)

Well, I suppose you are considered a duke still, so I would suggest you stick to count vassals until you get a certain king title, like Naples, Tunisia or Italy.

This was already mentioned before. The tag PISA is actually a kingdom tag, but in the scenario it is recongized as Duchy tag.
Er...?

In the 1066 scenario of the current beta the PISA tag is set as a non-recreatable duchy-level tag (although it's an un-playable republic)...or am I missing something?

...\ck\scenarios\1066_scenario_titles.inc
Code:
title = {
    tag = PISA
    tier = duchy
    liege = ITAL
    holder = {
        character = { type = 10 id = 20323 }
        startdate = {
            year = 1066
            month = january
            day = 0
        }
    }
}

Before the betas, Pisa was a duchy, but with the title kingdom.
The ruler's portrait was a duke portrait, but it said "king of Pisa". I always saw it as Byzantium, being a kingdom, but with the title empire.
Also, before the betas, Pisa was a feudal (playable) independent state, not a vassal republic.
