The real question is do my own vassals/dukes get an opinion penalty within their sub-realm for having too many duchys? Enlighten me...
I know that the Player is limited to Two duchys or they get negative opinion, and I see that the AI generally follow the 'Rule of Two' duchys, during succession etc as if that was their case as well. But in cases where Dukes have more then 2 duchys what really causes them to break the "Rule of 2", and why cant I see a negative opinion from their vassals...
. The specific case is my Dutch Empire in my attempt at expanding my Dynasty's family titles. My 'Good Kinsman' was the Duke of Brabant, I awarded him as well the titular Duchy of Kleves, all was well. When he recieved his 3rd duchy he created the Titular Kingdom of Belgium and destroyed the Duchy of Kleves. Upon recieving his fourth duchy he awarded it to a courtier... So he was all majestic about it and followed the 'Rule of Two' of only having two duchys to the letter.
But my "Bad Kinsman" had 2 duchys already, and when his papa died he inherited 2 more! Now this guy is sitting here with 4 duchys...he seems to refuse to give his titles away and he wants more...desires like 4 kingdom titles (jerusualm, egypt, syria, etc) but none of his vassals seem to care he has well exceeded the duchy limit.
( A note worth mentioning is that I have a strong claim to duchy of ascolon, so I can usurp that title from him without anyone caring, besides him of course...pretty sure I can just take it without him rebelling though he will hate me)<<<Is this due to the Strong Claim 'alone' or that AND the fact hes exceeded the limit?
I suspect other 'gameplay aspects' in play are that I own all the Kingdom titles he wants and has any claim too... So he doesnt want to get rid of his duchy's until hes able to create a kingdom title? Im sure there are other things at play like succession worries or something...
Whatever the abstract and complicated reasoning behind why hes cuckholding all these duchys maybe you can explain, but mainly why isnt he getting a negative opinion that I can see from his underlings? Does this mean I can just hand out duchy titles like candy for the opinion boost and let things sort themselves out?
