Drunk Bishops

Everytime I appoint a bishop to a bishopric, within a few years they turn into drunkards. What causes the drunk trait to appear? I've never played a character who has had it. Maybe I'm just unlucky and I know it's probably random but it always seems to be bishops. Has anyone else noticed this?

You can get it:

* randomly at tournaments
* randomly if you are slothful or gluttonous
* randomly if you are a hedonist
* as a event choice while being guest at a feast
* as a event choice when you have fallen in love with a married woman
* forced by an event choice for your spouse
* as a event choice when being in command and stressed

I would assume so. Did not see anything specifically about bishops in the events.

The rate at which drunkards spawn from tournaments is a little too high, I think. Every time I have one it fills the kingdom with drunks. And, of course, the drunk wrong culture bishop winds up tutoring me in a regency.

Interesting: I was just reading about how, in this period, that's what they did to people for not being blood-drinkers. Perhaps ripping their tongue out first. Delightful. :/

Every time I hold a feast, at least one drunk bishop makes an ass of himself and gets escorted to the bedroom.

Quick history lesson: The Christian churches weren't so holy back then. Higher ranking clergymen were often lecherous and corrupt.

I would understand this drunkard trait appear amongst bishops, but I think it doesnt really make sense when a muslim have it. If I remember correctly, alcohol is totally forbidden to all muslims. Or was it the rules are different back then?

It technically is forbidden to muslims but there is a long history of breaking that rule, whether overtly or covertly. My recollection is that the middle ages were one of the times when it was easier to drink openly.

It also varied a lot between different cultures. For example I believe the Turks never really cared much about the ban of alcohol. And rather read it as an advice of drinking in moderation.

EDIT: Several Turkish sultans banned alcohol, but the large christian minorities and quite many muslims generally ignored the bans.

What I think is that muslims should be less prone to become drunkards from events due to the taboo. Maybe simply a longer MTTH for muslims.

I'm actually playing a turkish realm atm, and every once in a while a drunkard shows up. It is much less frequent than when I was playing Christian games though, so a change in MTTH may not be needed I think
