Perhaps it is time to tune the casualty chance for drilling leaders. I've lost each of my last 4 generals due to "drilling accidents." Pretty remarkable considering they typically spend more time fighting than drilling. Two died within a few months of initiating drilling. It seems combat is far safer.

Edit: Right after this post I lost number 5. That is 5 in less than 10 years. No more drilling for me...no more MIL points left to buy generals.

Generals usually don't last long anyway.

If you don't want to take the risk of them dying don't have them drill.

Drilling might shorten their lifespan by some small amount on average, but it also has a chance to give them bonus pips.

Can't have your cake and eat it too.

Risk and reward.

Etc. etc. etc.
