I really enjoy the new edition. The changes in trade system and army are amazing.

But I'm confused about one thing, why can't an army gain drills during the combat?

1) I fully accept that loss and reinforcement should lead to drill penalty. That is correct.

2) I know that traditions are related to the combat, but wouldn't it be more accurate and interesting that make any army gaining drills during a combat, just like HOI4?

I want to hear from you guys.:)

Army Drilling represents your troops training while in camp, not utilizing drills in combat. It’s like sports practice for a game. Sure, you get experience during the game (Army Tradition), but practice is where you learn your plays, positions, and get your conditioning done (drilling)
