Drake!?!

I was playing the 1492 scenario as England, and building my empire through the latter half of the 1500s, when I noticed that Sir Francis Drake had not appeared as an explorer or as an Admiral! I checked the English leader file, and, sure enough, no Drake! Was this on purpose, or an oversight?

It's BiB's fault.

He had to give up something in exchange for making EU II Flandern Universalis.

But seriously, BiB has raised this question. Drake is my favorite EU I commander (and BiB's I think...). Maybe Drake is subsumed as a privateer or something.

He's in there, I'm pretty sure, although he's not that good.

Anyone else noticing the huge number of high quality British commanders in the 18th century? I've been able to chew up most of China with one conquistador at 6661, and a general at 455.

Clive, Marlborough, Wolfe etc. The British had some decent General during this period. Anyone had Wellington yet? What are his stats?

What would be the reason for not having Drake. Not another "he was just an advisor to the admiralty" raison a la Jeanne

A little overkill perhaps? Doubt very much any explorer was that good. Those kind of stats should be reserved for übercommanders.

And why is wellington so good? Well alright he beat Napoleon once but nothing i´ve read about him makes him some kind of demi-god commander.

And that makes it 500 for me. Now I´m a major Idiotboy. Ha, good fun.

Wellington and Drake were invincible English supermen. And wellington beat Napoleon in the Peninsular War - not just Waterloo.

And I beat you to 500 by about 30 minutes but you did it in one month! At the rate you're going you'll be in the top 10 of Sad No-life Posters before Christmas. What you need is a girlfriend...

More like he beat France in the penisular war. The one time Napoleon got involved in that affair he almost drove them into the sea and the only thing that saved the English with allies was a famine.

Wellington never beat Napoleon in the Peninsular Wars, he beat some of his Marechal, and never the best ones...

And for Waterloo, the Englishmen will be beaten except for the coming of the Prussians...

During the night, hundreds of wounded and panicked englishmen arrived in Bruxelles claiming that all was lost and that Wellington was killed.
