There are a few older threads on the dragon mission in this forum , although to be fair not having a conventional search option like 99% of other forums makes this a slightly more tedious task than it ought to be.

The Ogre one ("The Big Trouble")

You must avoid the sleeping ogre until your heroes are prepared to kill him
As long as you do not disturb him, the ogre will just waround around a bit and sleep different random spots. He will attack your palace about day 65 (can't remember exact day but I think it is scripted) Put fear flags around him if he is dangerously close to any wandering heroes who are likely to disturb him.

You should have sufficient time for your heroes to explore the map, get a warrior to level 10 (all your warriors will gain knockback immunity from ogre), level 2 blacksmith, level 3 guilds, visit the blademaster temple, and research at least the stoneskin potion at your magic bazaar.

The ogre cannot send warriors flying so they will keep him busy while your ranged and magic heroes attack from a slightly safer distance. However, he goes into a frenzy at about 25% health remaining, doing about 350 damage a swing - that's when he REALLY starts to hurt. Expect to lose a few heroes but don't worry about it, just keep healing your warriors and you should eventually prevail.

The Dragon one ("The Royal Feat")

This map is quite a jump in difficulty compared to previous maps.

The start is the hardest when your heroes are very weak and can be easily killed by snakes. You need plenty of heroes attacking the nests together with clerics to avoid deaths - even then, you can get unlucky. If you can keep the inn where it is with a guard tower, it can be a useful shelter for heroes fleeing from the dragon and snakes.

Once you've destroyed most or all of the snake nests (there are about 6), visit the witch in the NW and she'll help you to defeat the dragon.

If you have any other questions, let me know.

Re: Sleeping Ogre and Dragons

The sleeping Ogre mission (The Big Trouble) requires a little bit of planning. You first need to get one of your warrior heroes to reach level 10. This will give him the "Whirlwind" ability and in turn teach it to your other warriors. You will also need a good defense in your town. Place defense towers next to your castle and other critical buildings - like your marketplace. You will also need to upgrade your castle to level 2 as soon as possible. This will allow you to research the hero "party forming" option (through the tavern) and access the Elves guild (which you need in this mission). Don't attack the Ogre until you have formed hero parties. I found what worked for me was a party with a warrior ( a couple of them I promoted to Blademaster) as the leader, a cleric, elf and ranger. Heroes attempting to attack individually will just get killed. The cleric will help heal your heroes as well as do nice ranged attacks. Elves and rangers can also attack from a bit of distance. I actually did a walkthrough on this Ogre mission, you can check it out here - http://www.brighthub.com/video-games/pc/articles/66542.aspx

As for your dragon mission problem, I'm not sure which mission you mean. However, I think part of your trouble with them is because your heroes probably travelled too close to their dens too soon. A good strategy is to uncover the map slower, giving your heroes time to gain experience and levels by attacking enemy dens closer to town. Defense towers are important for protection too. The Dwarven defense towers are best but you will need to upgrade your castle and blacksmith to level two first before you can access anything dwarf related. You should also build up your gold resources faster by finding trading post locations, researching items in your marketplace and blacksmith. The magic bazaar is also a good gold making building. However, you will need to build a wizard's guild first. Hope this helps.

In the Royal Feat mission, it is important to place all of your buildings on the south side of the castle. When the big dragon makes its sweeps into your settlement, it will always turn back before getting too far to the south. Observe the path the dragon takes and plan the layout of your settlement accordingly, so that the only buildings on the dragon's path will be either unimportant peasant houses, or your castle, which has too many hit points for the dragon to destroy in one sweep. Try to keep your heroes busy elsewhere to keep them out of the dragon's way until they've gained enough levels to withstand the dragon's breath.

One alternative I found for Royal Feat was building guardhouses on the dragon's route. Generally, the dragon will withdraw after destroying anything and will aggro onto anything that attacks it, so a guardhouse can sacrifice itself to protect something that would be considerably more expensive to replace (like a cleric...)

if you have few of those that will do the trick, also mage towers, as they are cheap to be replaced, specially guardtowers (150 g minimum). IF you build few of them heroes can get busy killin rats and whatever other things that come to your town.

I did this but I also built a hall of lords and recruited one lord who could handle all the serpent things and could survive some dragon attacks if i needed to defend north of the castle for some reason.

It took me a few tries, but the final attempt, i build my Lords Hall and recruited my lvl 14 Ranger. He can 2 shot snakes, and made short work of the first wave. He was able to give me the breathing room to get a new Rangers guild set up and gave the newbies enough cover so they could level up to something useful. I still had to resurrect the newbs a few times, but it worked out in the end.

Once i had the snakes under manageable control, i waited for the dragon to attack, and as soon as he flew off, built my market. If you time it like that, he won't destroy your new construction when it's still vulnerable.

After that, it's a pretty straightforward map. It can get a little hectic at times, especially when you take out a snake nest, but other than that, not too bad.
