The assign/unassign workaround is a chore. Drag'n drop support for Armies and Army groups at the bottom, as well as rearranging theatres, unfortunately did not make the cut for this release. There are UI/UX designs and plans to make this happen.

Same for army/ unit templates would be great, so you can sort similar templates together (not necessary drag'n'drop, but at least sortable)

Would a better default sorting order suffice (even just reversing it so that latest template is at the top rather than at the bottom)? Maybe group templates by division type (Infantry, Motorised, Tank, Special forces etc). I'm trying to find "fairly easy to fix" solutions that have a chance of being implemented/making the cut in our sprint work.

I think grouping by main division type would help.

Couldn't be the option to use the old production interface sorting buttons (to move template up/down the list)?

Can you also consider drag drop arranging divisions within armies so we can keep track of key divisions in mixed armies easier.

What would define a key division?
As drag'n drop is fairly complex to design and implement (our GUI system does not work in a way where we can just check a flag to allow DnD unfortunately (oh how I would love that to be the case)). There are designs and probably plans to be able to sort the division list for an army/army group by the stats associated with a division, eg. by type, experience etc.
Would that suffice?

While you are at it: Being in the general army overview (clicking the troop icon on the top right corner besides the airforces and navy) there is an icon for unit types (i.e.: 54 infantry devisions). Please make this icon clickable and give me an overview over all my infantry. Same goes for tanks and all other. I want to quickly create armies of infantry only with only the best infantry (i.e.: most trained) available and I want to train those who are not veterans yet. This would help a lot in organizing them (there are tons of other UI-related things that could be discussed to be improved. The UI is great, but there are some hitches to it, is there a thread for UI-only suggestions? I couldn't find one on the fly)

How about most-used at the top? That kind-of automatically sorts the more specialised divisions lower.

Maybe sort templates by how many divisions they are used in with the unused ones in the bottom ordered by latest modified highest up? ( Would feel logical to me )

I also feel the information on how many divisions a template is used in is quite important, and it might be a good idea to bring it forward from the fairly hidden place it has now ( tooltip of the delete button )

Sorting and multi select would be awesome for the Army list ( sort on XP, ctrl select all below regular to quickly grab the ones in need of training for example ).

What I would also like is that divisions you select from the map automatically appear on top ( so that the order changes ), so that their status can be displayed together even if you are viewing a FM list with 120 divisions.

Yes, could be simple, just grouping the template types together would be sufficient.

I made a former post in a diary to describe this:

New to HOI4, and I find it really annoying that I cant rearrange the armies/generals on the bottom of the UI. Please add this.

There is a workaround until we've made a better, more intuitive way, to fix this.
In the theatre view (right side of the screen) you can select an army in an army group and right-click to tto put it to the furthest right. It takes a lot of fiddling to get the order of the armies in the way you want but we're working on this. It is unfortunately not possible with armies not in army groups :(

How could I rearrange the order of theatres? I have to move all of the armies to a different theatres and then change the name of theatre right now. I wonder if there is a better way?

BTW, could we have a x2 button in production view?

There is a workaround until we've made a better, more intuitive way, to fix this.
In the theatre view (right side of the screen) you can select an army in an army group and right-click to tto put it to the furthest right. It takes a lot of fiddling to get the order of the armies in the way you want but we're working on this. It is unfortunately not possible with armies not in army groups :(

Speaking of theatres and drag/drop:

1. It would be cool if we could reorganize theatre lists by dragging up or down. Having to manually recreate each theatre in order to sort its placement in the list is a bit tedious.
2. I would love it if in the naval/air/army lists (P, L O shortcuts) there was a button to allow us to select everything in one click. That way it would be much easier, for instance, to select all of the UK's fleets at the start of the game so they could be ordered back to a single port and merged. At the moment you have to shift + select every single one individually.

Hope you guys find time to consider such things!

Please implement sorting based on name of division. I really like to have the divisions sorted by numbers. That is 1-24 is army 1, 25-48 is army 2. As it is now, the game hates to sort in any way. If I remove Division 15 in an army, then division 24 will take its place. Total chaos also happens when you have alot of equipment and recruit a bunch of divisions. The divisions come out randomly often. This may have to do with that if you capture equipment, random divisions in training will be filled up with tha equipment.

All in all, please implement some kind of division sorting :)
