My name is Rhodri ap Owain, and I am king of Wales in the year of our lord 1300.

We are a simple kingdom, in the centre of the British Isles.
We don't have many friends here, the English view us as filthy mongrels and our fellow Celts in Eire, Bretagne and Scotland see us as English lapdogs who are too proud for their own good. We'll show them.

We aren't completely alone, however. The people of Mann and Cornwall, probably our closest cultural relatives, tolerate us. For now.

House Rules:
Maximum of 2 PU's and 2 Vassals, and no more than 3 combined.
No more than 5 non-cores at any time.
No going over infamy limit, if I do, release vassals until 10 points under.
No reloading etc.

Goals:
Conquer the British Isles
Conquer Northern France
Establish a Welsh Thirteen Colonies and Eastern Canada

Chapters:
House of Glyndwr
Rhodri IV ap Owain
Un: New Century, New Hope
Dau: Aggression Everywhere
Tri: Recovery and Rebuilding
Pedwar: Look to the Far North

This is my first AAR, as you may have noticed, please bear with me as I learn the ropes.
As the title suggests, I will be using ATBKING's World In Turmoil mod.

Un: New Century, New Hope

It was calm day, the First of January, 1300. King Rhodri was a large, well built man with the curliest brown hair in all of Europe. He sat in his chamber, staring out the window, and contemplated what lay in store. His reign had been peaceful, as the shattered Europe left behind by his grandfather Ieuan ap Mihangel. While the kingdoms themselves had very much recovered, it was still unheard of for a Christian king to rule over more than four provinces - even Rhodri only had two. But that was a story for another day.
His advisor Alun, appeared in the door.

Alun: "My liege?"
Rhodri: "Yes, Alun?"

Alun was a small, balding man, often teased for his hunchback. However, he had met the king at a young age and was one of Rhodri's most trusted friends.

Alun: "I bring news from Lord Cledwyn. He has found a group of serfs in Glamorgan who have shown great scientific knowledge and could help lead us to important discoveries. One may even be fit to serve as an admiral."
Rhodri: "Brilliant! Let it be so!"
Alun: "However, under current law they are unable to."
Rhodri: "Well I'll change the law!"
Alun: "But sir, the nobles may--"
5VVrava.png

Alun: "Nevermind..."
Rhodri: "What else?"
Alun: "We have been sent several alliance offers."
Rhodri: "From whom?"
Alun: "Leinster wishes to renew the Kildare pact, and Lord William-Ebward of Stantine has done well making friends in Mann. Also, a few English and Scottish kings have offered too."
Rhodri: "Accept them all, and be sure to send some more funds to Lord Webstantine."
Alun: "Why you call him that I'll never know..."

q7oa0wu.png

Rhodri:"How goes my wife? I haven't seen her since she went to see her father in Somerset."
Alun:"Actually..."
sSbOou4.png

Rhodri: "The Emperor passed a reform in my son's honour?"
Alun: "Sure. Let's say that."
There was a sudden knock, and the tall, thin figure of Lord Aeron Cadwallader appeared.
Aeron: "My liege! We have been called to war in aid of Leinster and Fife!"
Rhodri: "Ready the men. Also, call them to help in each other's wars. We'll need it."
t09L6Nj.png

Rhodri: "Curses. You can never trust one of those fake-Celts to do anything properly. They got the world into this mess..."
Alun: "My liege, we have other alli--"
Rhodri: "Now is not the time! Ready my horse, we have a war to go to."

I will follow this

Dau: Aggression Everywhere

Rhodri: "How goes the war, Aeron?"
Aeron: "We have defeated both the Northumbrian and Meath navies, however Leinster is under siege."
IIwNGZu.png

Rhodri: "I see. Alun, is our new admiral ready?"
Alun: "Actually sir, he refuses to go into combat unless you loosen our serfdom regulations further."
Rhodri: "Well, what are you waiting for?"
YrFwxd7.png

Alun: "Also, sir, Fife has fallen."
Rhodri: "Serves them right, for betraying us."
ofhqDhp.png

Rhodri: "Is our admiral ready now?"
Aeron: "Yes. He has commissioned two new ships and sailed out into combat. Victorious, of course."
Rhodri: "Good. I shall land my troops in Meath now."
Aeron: "One small problem..."
Rhodri: "Yes, Aeron?"
Aeron: "Look out the window."
EFpLthx.png

Rhodri: "I see."
Alun: "Also, your majesty, we have been defeated in Meath.
Rhodri: "I know, Alun. I was there."
D33CO4U.png

Rhodri: "Alun. Make peace with Meath. Accept their demands, we need the men back at home. Leinster can wait for liberation."
Alun: "Yes, my liege. Unfortunately, I seem to have misplaced the documents, but they asked for 20 ducats."
Rhodri: "Fine. Pull the men back, we need to save our own people."
Aeron: "My liege..."
Rhodri: "Once again Aeron, I know, I was there."
yvR7Lvh.png

Suddenly Cledwyn, a large man with wispy grey hair, stormed in.
Cledwyn: "My liege! Gwynedd has fallen!"
Rhodri: "I guess this is it. My kingdom has fallen to the Scots, of all people."
Aeron: "Actually..."
oI3sWHI.png

Rhodri: "Thank goodness!"
Alun: "Yes. It appears the king of the ATB region, as he calls it, believes his domain is in enough turmoil already."

You're lucky they didn't occupy your land and annex you :p

I probably cheered a bit too loud when I got the offer, but I've tried having more than 1 non-core early on in this mod in another game. Rebels like crazy.
Tell me about it.I guess it adds to the challenge.

Tri: Recovery and Rebuilding

Rhodri: "Admiral Dai Thomas, by the power bestowed upon me by our Lord almighty, and for your services in securing the Irish sea in recent conflicts, I knight you into the Order of the Four Lions..."
Mhb5wSX.png

Alun: "Sir, I warned you against drinking before knighting him. And now the serfs who looked up to him are in uproar."
Y3vOgWc.png

Rhodri: "It'll fix itself."
Alun: "You killed our best and only admiral. It won't fix overnight."
Aeron: "Lord! I have recieved alliance offers from three local English kings!"
rwQaSjt.png

Rhodri: "I'm off to sleep. Alun, deal with this..."
Alun: "I must remember to keep him away from Lord Cledwyn's wine cellar. Accept the offers, and send an offer of employment to Gwyn Matthews. He'll know what to do."
Ap40LFx.png

Aeron: "Yes sir. Whilst rebuilding the army, I found that almost a fifth of our recruits didn't meet the expected levels..."
Alun: "As if the nation wasn't unstable enough... Purge them, we need the strength."
OAQENX1.png

Aeron: "The Scots have heard of this, and are mocking us."
E6GUf72.png

Alun: "Screw the Scots. We can't trust them. Heck, we can barely trust the Manx anymore, especially as they executed Lord Stantine..."
MYFNSVl.png

Aeron: "What a disaster! What is their attempt at justification."
Alun: "Several counts of insubordination. Apparently he was trying to save up enough money to establish his own nation."
Aeron: "Foolish plan. You can meet a lot of wierdos that way. My cousin attempted to set up a colony on some islands near Scandinavia and was met by Catalan speakers who worshipped Haddock, of all things."
Alun: "Speaking of madmen, there is news from Ireland..."
ycPbNqt.png

Aeron: "I expect the Kildare pact to be renewed?"
Alun: "Sadly, no. The new government is loyal to Munster, and only Munster."
Cledwyn: "WHO IS THIS FOOL IN THE COURT AND WHY IS HE PREACHING HERESY?"
McXg3z7.png

Alun: "His name is Gwyn Matthews, and he is here to make our nation stronger, something the Law and Church Department don't seem to be doing."

Pedwar: Look to the Far North

Rhodri: Alun! Why is my land so small? We must fix this!
Alun: Actually sir, I have been talking with our allies in Bedford, and they have an interesting idea.
Rhodri: Go on...

bdk8o1w.png

Alun: The people of Iceland, to the north, are so backward they don't even have a religion. An easy target.
Aeron: I sent the diplomat you ordered, Alun.

cI7T9hj.png

Rhodri: Why would you order this without me?
Alun: I knew you would approve. We've already won, anyway.

ijBTrQD.png

2nd9kE5.png

Rhodri: Alun! I will not stand for this insubordination!
Aeron: Then please, have a rest.

Sorry about lack of updates, especially as this was a shorter one. I finished this game ages ago and it wasn't the most fun to play.
