how is the prestige loss calculated if i want to go to war with another country??
i always lose more than 100 prestige point and it is not worth it as it takes ages to recover.
:(

You always loose more than 100 prestige? Strange; maximum should normally be 100, unless you're breaking a peace treaty at the same time?

It costs you -1 prestige to decarle war on a -100 prestige country. I'm not sure if this is just uncivilized countries or civilized ones as well.

DOWing any country with a prestige lower then -100 will cost you just 1 prestige, the other part of the prestige is the army strength of you and the one of your target.

ype prestige cost of dow depends of the prestige the nation u attack.

i'm not sure but i think the amount needed is less when it's a uncivilize nation.

but i think i read something about it somewhere : maybe VickyWiky or Memnon's manual.

thats the only thing i found about pretige loss on VikyWiki

Humiliation
As you will have noticed, declaring war cost a certain amount of prestige. At least part of this cost is determined by the prestige of the country against which you declare war. A humiliation treaty removes three hundred prestige points from the defeated and gives you a substantial amount of prestige in return. It also makes the next declaration of war against that country less costly in prestige, assuming the humiliation as brought them below -100.

Thought there may be other modifiers as it cost me 95 prestige to declare war vs Netherlands (as Belgium).
They have only 300 prestige and i have 250

When you are stronger then him (MS) the prestige cost is 100, when he is stronger then you (MS again) it will start to go down, therefore you might mobilise and DOW before your mobilised troops are deployable :D

Perhaps the info at VickyWiki could be organized better, but here's something from the FAQ (available both at VickyWiki and among the stickies :D):
The FAQ (actually Darkrenown) said:
  • If the target has -100 prestige or less then it costs 1 prestige to attack them.
  • If the target is close to or higher than your power level it will cost less than 100 prestige to attack them.
  • If the target is far weaker than you, but has greater than -100 prestige it will cost 100 prestige to attack them.
  • In 1.02 the hit for breaking a peace treaty is 100 prestige.
AFAIK, this is what's been uncovered on the subject, but I don't think there has been that much testing on this, so it might be more complex.

Don't think so; in checking how much it costs to DOW uncivs (=potential candidates for inclusion in my colonial empire), it fits the model DR set up.

I tested it a fair bit before I wrote that ;) But it was back in the 1.02 days, still, I think it's still the same.
