What I suspect is going on is something related to the relation between IND and BIN. CORE was designed with the old set of Tags. The original designers decided to utilize the IND Tag for prewar British India. Now AoD has a debicated BIN Tag for that. But we don't define BIN TT in CORE as we don't use that Tag. But our TT numbers for IND are in the same range as BIN uses. So maybe loading CORE into AoD is somehow meshing these improperly. You might try copying our IND TT file to BIN and see if that helps. Alternately, try renumbering the BIN file to something different (add a 10 in front of each) that won't conflict. LAt resort would be renumbering the CORE IND file. but then you'd need to mod the Event file as well as there is a TT related event. Good luck with this.

Hi,

Yes, indeed it is a bit hard ot see how we got to somme places. Especially for someone relatively new to this rather old mod. What you are suggesting might have worked nicely if we'd had that input back in the day. We never really dixcussed keeping all the old settings in the files. And it would have been a bit clunky. But I do get your point.

Midway: Yes, one of those problem areas. Agree that CV stacking should work very differently from Surface stacking. Unfortunately, it doesn't. So we are stuck picking one setting. While CV combat is a big part of the game there are probably less CV actions than surface engagements. So I don't think setting this to Zero is the correct solution. Unfortunately I don't see a good fix. OTher than making sure the setting is not too high overall. I already degrade "flotillas" stats somewhat. So a five ship DD flotilla starts out with only 75% of it's theoretical firepower. On that note, I think the basic Misc setting is actually rather low considering firing arcs and formation station keeping.

The greatest disappointment in 108 and the hired programmer's departure was that although I had many times pointed out that the exe file needed to be fixed so as to properly reflect carrier battles, nothing was done. I blame it upon the Eurocentric majority of the HOI2 teams who don't give a rat's rear end about ever playing the game as Japan or USA. I guess there are no great carrier battles in the Med, Baltic or the North Sea so nobody cares.

I have found a suitable work around for the India tech team loss in multiplayer games that, at least for now, seems to work. I load a new game single player in the normal modir CORE game and save that game at Jan 1, 1936. Then I copy the savegame into my multi player game and everybody loads that game as the new game start. It now has tech teams for India. Once you get the tech teams into the savegame file they remain. Go figure!

A new question about CORE -- I recall reading somewhere that the game settings of hard and very hard do something more than just what is shown in the difficulty file. If that is true, what folders/files/events contain that information?

Hi,

AFAIK there currently isn't any additional content that cues off of Difficulty settings. What I had mentioned in the past was something that I did at HSR to adjust the Commonwealth nations to have modifiers in line with ENG. That was more applicable there as we recommended playing HSR on VH while fore CORE we tune it for N/N. Still might implement that some day as I think playing on H/VH is good for replay value.

I'm getting some installation problems, namely scenarios aren't being parsed into the game engine and there are 0 of them to choose from when trying to start a new game. I have AOD installed from steam at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Arsenal of Democracy" and that's I set for the installer, all fresh. In that folder there is a mod-CORE2 folder with 7855 files and 41 sub folders. It seems the CORE 0.7.0 shortcut just launches the aodgame executable with a 'mod-CORE2' flag, and I see the CORE watermark on the main title screen so it is partially working.

Is this a known issue and can someone comment on my particular problem? I played CORE 6-8 months ago fine though.

Mmh. If you have UAC active, that may be the problem (esp. on Vista it is a bit erratic).
Try copying the whole AoD folder to anywhere not "program files" (do not forget to adjust the shortcut).

If that does not help, I have no idea how to handle that; never has occured to me.

Thanks for your quick response mate, I was able to solve it by adding a launch option through steam of 'mod-CORE2'. I'm going to copy the folder out of steam anyway as you suggested.

Considering that Steam does not offer the latest version of the game anyways, I guess that would be best.

I did yes, but you'd be surprised at how long I have been playing without the 1.08 patch out of ignorance. Loving this mod though, and currently am having a hell of a time with my current campaign.
