Downlaoding new DLCs - may I use it on current savefile?

Hi, let us say that I want to install both major DLC's (like Sunset Invasion and The Republic) and minor DLC's (portraits, songs, unit packs and customization), will I then be able to play a former savefile (with the newest DLC) with the benefits from these new DLC's, or do I need to make a new file in order for them to come into play?

The save file should work. Republic will work as it mainly just opens them to be playable. The Sunset Invasion might not work on a save game started before you bought it but I'm not 100% sure about that. Potraits work immidiatly after you load the game as ethinicity in the save files determine what facepacks they use. Songs will work in your save some of them are culture specific so you will not hear them without playing with a character of that culture. The songs of prosperity plays only if you play as Merchant Republic. Units also appear immidiatly when you load the game and customation dlc will also work. Dynasty Arms Packs don't work on saved games started without them but in every game after you got them thet will work.
