Downgrading to 1.07b

Hi,

As I wanted to play mods which are not ported to 1.08, I wanted to downgrade my Steam CK2 to 1.07b. Before using Trying and Failure, how can I do this the best way?

You can't

As Darkgamma said above, there's no real way except from uninstalling.

What you can do is to have 2 copies of the game (provided you have enough space for it), so you could copy your current game folder if there's something you want to keep and save it somewhere else, then uninstall the game and reinstall up until 1.07b

How do I reinstall up to that version? Deleting it completely then reloading it, and then...?

Isn't the reloaded steam version automatically the 1.08 Version? I am asking since there might be some technical problems when applying the 1.07b to 1.08.

Maybe, i just use it for official multiplayer so i have only installed it once and that was like just after SoI came out. So i didn't pay much attention and after that, simply used manual patching.

Ok, seems like there is no option if you haven't copied your CKII folder with a previous version.

Steam comes in quite handy sometimes, but things like this are annoying.

Ah I forgot steam enforced such things upon you.

Gamersgate just gives you the base game, you patch it through the launcher yourself.

Oh, that's good. This difference should probably be listed clearly in the relevant threads--I know I'd have gone for the Gamersgate version, had I known it didn't suffer from Steam's issues.

Oops, damn. Leviathan is right, my last download was then the newest version. Now i keep the downloads stored just in case.
At least now i could go back to 1.06. I guess this is not possible with Steam. Oh wait, no it is as well (sigh).

I don't think im buying a game and DLC twice just because I am technically prevented from downgrading it. I think there should be more awareness of this matter and Developers should put some pressure on Steam.

But if my vacation time is getting boring, I fear I might reconsider. So, what version is the Gamersgate one?

well just checked, that aint correct. It's actually 1.02b when i fire up the game
