Still learning. A lot.

Germany is prepped to invade the low countries and seize the channel ports before dashing off to Brittany. War exists with France and Great Britain, but not with the Low Countries.

I am guessing the time to establish an air drop is 24 hours, or rather they won't drop until 24 hours after the order is given.

So, at 03:00 on D-Day -1, the order is given without issuing a declaration of war to drop at 04:00 on D-Day.

This is the question: Does the DOW with the low countries need to be issued at H-Hour -1, or can it be issued at H-Hour itself? What is the minimum time required between DOW and a Drop? How much time does it take to put the loaded transports in the air and get them over the drop zone?

Second question: What is the probability an airdrop lands on an adjacent, rather than the designated, territory?

My thanks in advance

That's a good question, I presume you are trying to launch a surprise attack to ensure they dont have time to prepare for attack.

If you pause the game, then declare war, at least you can order troops across the border right away, so the ground attack will start the next tick (1 hour). I think the same goes for deploying air forces, including interception, bombardment and airdrop. So you can order the attack only after you have declared war if I am not mistaken.

I believe airdrops always hit the intended hex. Remember these provinces in game are rather large chunks of territory IRL. Even if a paradrop lands a few miles from the dropzone, its still in that hex

There is a 48 hour delay in airborne assault orders execution. So, if you want a drop to happen at 0500 May 10, you need to give the order by 0500 on May 8. You do not have to be at war to select a target for an air assault.
I have never seen an air assault zone be missed. Once or twice I have seen air assaults not happen because the transports were intercepted--so have some fighters on patrol on the target area.

I did a save and dropped the airborne a few times to get the handle on it. Thanks for the info, guys. I appreciate it.

It's odd how the computer ALWAYS refuses to garrison the fortress of Eben Emal at Leige. Like they're waiting for you to do the 1st Fallschimjager drop on Leige to open the road to Brussels and Antwerp.
