In my recent game I wanted to subjugate the whole galaxy (who doesn't want to, he?).
Most times I just nicley asked other empires to become my protectorate...if they decline..well...there are consequences!

In the later 246xies one of the remaining federating empires (a cluster of 5 empires who dearly disliked me) had a robot uprising. I hoped those robots would wipe out at least one of the empires but it got dimished after about 10-12 years. The robots lost all their fleets an all their systems got occupied. Warscore war 100% to 32% at this time...and now it started to got weird: In 2520 their warescore was at 100% to 72% ... and as long as they are at war i can't kindly ask if one of them want to be my new "friend".

at last I declared a war of philosophies on the one blocking my way to those imposterous robots and wiped them out myself. I still do not understand why the AI didn't manage to conqued the 7 planets the robots had. They conquered another 5 without problems and then stopped and the war dragged on forever.

another finding: If you attack an empire that is at war with another empire it won' surrend early because if a few systems are occupied by the other warparty, you don't get the 100% occupation. So...enemy empire is 100% occupied, has nothing left to hope but as it is occupied by 2 different warparties it doesn't surrender??? Sounds weird to me...

AI is kinda stupid in 2.2. Often it doesn't rebuild its armies if they got destroyed and since robot uprising is a total war, no side is going to surrender while still having planets. I'd recommend Glavius AI to fix some economic issues, but it still doesn't know how to wage war properly.

This actually makes sense. It can't surrender stuff that it doesn't control. That's the system used in all paradox games. If you want total victory, you gotta declare on the empire, that currently holds those occupations. If you had declared a war of humiliation, then the AI would have most likely surrendered because it has no direct effect on the territory that it doesn't control.
