Hi,

the easiest way is certainly to copy your directory of HoI elsewhere, then apply any mod you want on it. This way you alway keep a vanilla install of the game.

If you're as inept with this stuff as I am, Rifter, what that means is that you need to rename one of your installations.

So, for example, when you copy your vanilla version of HoI preparatory to upgrading it to 1.05c and adding CORE just rename it as 'CORE mod'. The only thing you then need to be careful of is to download any additional CORE hot-fixes into the renamed directory. You can do that by using the browse function.

Apologies if all that was already apparent to you.
