DotF Permanent Now?

Apparently I'm going to have Defender of the Faith until game's end. I can't get rid of it. I haven't been called into a single war yet (so I could decline) and it's been 50 years.

You could "lose" a war by conceding defeat to some unfortunate scrub in the boondocks that gets full occupied.

I don't really see what's so bad about that. You could of course throw a war.

I notice that you can't claim it even when you have more prestige than the dotf. its broken I think

Losing any war makes you lose DotF?

If possible DotF countries don't have the money or prestige to take it from you, you will never lose it unless you overtly do so.

I wanted to loose it after I had no use for the extra missionary (converted to Protestant)

I got called into a DotF war, and "lost" by surrending 1warscore of gold

You don't need to lose a war where you were called in as DotF - just decline the call and you've lost it. That's not my problem - I can't get anyone to call me into a war.

Have you tried disbanding most of your army to appear weaker? Might make the AI more willing to declare on someone that will call you in. Save up some cash so you can rebuild it and/or hire a bunch of mercs as soon as you get called in

You lose DotF when you lose any war whatsoever. That's why I said to just beat on someone whose land you don't want right now and say you lost. Heck, you can concede defeat to some non co-belligerent ally of someone you do want land from and that'll suffice to lose it.

There's a 25 year timer until you can claim it from someone.

I've been in a multiplayer game, and Britain stole it from me a few centuries ago, still can't claim it back with more prestige.
