Hello all,

I'm new to this forum, So please bare with me in regards to my newb questions. I'm thinking of buying this game as all the reviews I've seen are good. My 1st question is, Can someone who has purchased DD play a MP game vs someone who has a fully patched HOI2?

My 2nd question is more of an opinion. Is DD worth the extra money vs HOI2? Is there a lot of bugs etc that have to be iron out, to make it enjoyable. That relates to my 3rd question. Once I do get this game, Which version should I buy. DD or HOI2?

Hi, and welcome to the forums.

Doomsday is only 19.99 euro in the Paradox webshop, and it contains both games.

You cannot however, play multiplayer with DD versus HOI2 patched. This might be made possible later, but most likely not, since there are many features added to Doomsday (it being an expansion and all).

IMO you should go for DD, even if it costs a bit extra (which I don't think it does). There might be a few bugs still, but the HOI2 franchise (and with it DD) is very stable, in my experience. And those bugs, which are not game-stoppers, are bound to be ironed out sooner or later.

Doomsday does NOT contain HOI2.

Go the the root website for paradox:
www.paradoxplaza.com

and look at what they sell and what they have. You might be able to buy a package containing both games that's relatively cheap.

At this point, DD has some problems which make serious play difficult, but like all Paradox games, it should improve a lot with the next patch. DD has better automated features including automated trade and automatic slider management, but right now the AI's air routines are completely screwed up, automatic convoy is not working, and there are a lot of complaints about the revised leader experience system.

DD includes HOI2 but some consider it not the same as REAL HOI2 because of all of the changes (the intel screen etc). So it does not contain vanilla HOI2 or updated HOI2 1.3 that most on this forum are playing and discussing. I think that is what he might have meant (forgive me JohnH if this is incorrect).

Interesting how both games play differently. Hard to say which one is better as DD is new and I have not been able to play many scenarios. I think it may be a tie from my perspective!! The game is great if you like this style of gaming........

I think so, but opinions vary. you're probably the only one who could answer that question.

vanilla HoI2 is on the Doomsday cd. you just have to actually open the CD folder (not using autorun) and look for it.

Well thanks guys for the help. I just ordered DD. It won't be in till mid next week .

Doomsday includes HOI2

Minor adjustment:

Doomsday includes "HOI2 Scenarios and battlescenarios", but Doomsday is an improved Game engine with Intellegence/Spy features not found in HOI2 1.3.

the statment "doomsday includes HOI2" implies that the DD disk has both DD and HOI2 1.3 game engines. This is not true, and has lead to misunderstandings regarding what comes with DD. DD is the updated product.

This is similar to comparing "Europa Univeralis II" and "europa Univeralis II - Aisian chapters."
