Sorry if I wasn't clear, I was talking about for a reward after the planet blows up. A happiness buff pre-explosion would actually make things easier, since happiness is stability and Doomsday has some troubles with that.
you could focus on building holo theatres early on alongside with alloy production and generator districts, and maybe mines as those are the things you get the boni on. research you can do on the new homeworld, after 35 years you won't lack that much anyway, and the bureaucrat building you should demolish before unpausing the game

this way you'll harvest the resources and gain a massive boost to unity

Really the only two things I'd do with this origin:

-Give it some sort of synergy with memorialist as someone else suggested because that seems like it would be some nice flavor. I mean, your homeworld inexplicably exploded possibly killing millions. Though I want to say, didn't the devs give people something to help get people off that rock besides turning off all the jobs?

-Player starts out with an already built colony ship. I'm not sure this would be a buff at all, given that one of the firs things you probably want to do is have a colony ship depart ASAP to the nearest rock worth colonizing. Also if the devs insist on letting the AI continue to pick this origin, maybe the AI will actually save itself for a change instead of just dying. Though it is nice that we don't get the weird thing with hivemind doomsday AI, where they have a uprising from a new intelligent species that appeared out of the ether, that then gets blown up anyways.

Permanent boost? Please no. Temporary powerful boost, like 100 influence and +10% happiness for 20 years on all planets? That'd be okay. Trait that increases your habitability by 20% for "adpating to new words"? That might be good.
And make it have guaranteed habitables, but they're from the wrong climate category, so it's not quite as bad when RNG screws you.

Why do people insist on watering down this unique and challenging origin by making it less risk and less reward....

A temporary powerful boost is a reward, and planets outside your habitability are generally not useful early on, so they only cushion the far end of the "risk" of using this origin.
To be quite frank, the origin in its current form is only "high risk, high reward" if you're playing as Machines, because then you can actually use the extra alloy production of the doomed homeworld to fuel conquest (which is what then creates the risk, because if you fail to conquer, you might get conquered or just not be able to colonize as much as necessary), but even then, their perfect habitability is just way too much and usually you'll be able to colonize while warring. For more normal empires (like biological ones), this origin is "challenging", yes, but it has no reward, and instead of any risk, you're just going to be behind the whole game by a varying amount by RNG.

Yes but that's the point behind a challenging origin. You start a game and you have no idea how the game will play out. The only origin who really does that in my opinion.

I love the idea behind it and I don't want any reward that would actually make it worthwhile to take this as a biological Empire over for example remnants. It tells a story and caters to the evacuate planet trope the same way remnants caters to the rebuilding your empire trope.

Then again I wouldn't mind some unique flavor text and maybe a short tiered buff depending how much you saved (not worth the costs though). A happiness bonus sounds thematically fitting and probably not OP.
