This is my first attempt to make a nice fanfiction-story. I hope you'll like it! Any comments are welcome, since they could be a source of inspiration.

The story will start in 1949 and cover .... years.

PROLOGUE

POTSDAM, 1945

The Big Three was present to discuss the future. There was a certain tension in the conference hall, where Stalin, Churchill and Truman stayed.
Stalins main goal was getting eastern Europe under in the Soviet sphere of influence. This created tension between him, Churchill and Truman: The beginnings of the Cold War.

The Big Three agreed with the partition of Germany: the allies occupied Western Germany and Soviet forces occupied Eastern Germany. Berlin would be divided in West and East Berlin.

1945 - 1949

A series of events created more tension between the Allies and the Comintern:
- 1946: Churchill blames Stalin for creating an "Iron Curtain" through Europe
Stalin replied:

Churchill and his friends resemble Hitler and his friends very well. Hitler started his work, the Second World War, with carrying out the theory of races. Only the German-speaking race would be superior. Churchill starts a war with a theory of races by guaranteeing that only English-speaking nations are superior.

- 1948: After allied forces introduce the D-Mark in Western Germany, Stalin blocks Western Berlin. No man or mouse can enter or leave Western Berlin. Allied forces start supplying Western Berlin through an air bridge. These "Rosinenbomber" (Raisinbombers) were needed until 1949, when Stalin ended the Blockade of Berlin.

In 1949 the partition of Europe in an American and a Soviet zone of influence reached a peak, when allied forces declared the Federal Republic of Germany (capital: Bonn). As a reaction, Stalin granted Eastern Germany independence in October 1949. Germany was now split in BRD (Bundesrepublik Deutschland) and DDR (Deutsche Demokratische Republik). Wilhelm Pieck was made president of the DDR.

CIA Headquarters - Washington - December 6th 1949

William Rogers, the head of the that-year-founded CIA, was a respectful, but harsh man. Ever since the foundation of his agency, he had been keen on spying on the Soviet Union and had placed numerous agents in that country.
He was looking at the list of spies and was confident: He had 10 spies in the Soviet Union, 3 in the DDR and another 16 in the other communist states. His best spy, George Tend, was currently spying the USSR.
George would soon report to him.

KIEV, THE UKRAINE, U.S.S.R., December 7th 1949

It had been snowing for a week now and all traffic was standing still in the streets. Only some civilians and few soldiers were on the streets.
In the forest near the city, a man sat shivering in the snow. His name was Aleksey. He was a factory worker and lived since 1946 in Kiev.
Aleksey opened his backpack and took an army phone out of the backpack. He took the phone and dialed a number. As soon as he got contact he started talking:
"Hello Vienna, hello Vienna. Can you hear me?"
"Vienna here. Who is speaking?"
"This is Doghouse. Serial number 11092 AC 9009."
"Ahh, it's you George. How are things?"
"Everything here is going well."
"Anything special to report?"
"Nope, unless you're interested in the regular propaganda"
"No, we're not interested in that. If there's nothing to report, contact us again in 4800 hours."
"Roger that."
"Over and out"
George (or Aleksey) hung up the phone and went home.

ROSTOCK, DDR, December 9th 1949

Heinz Schwiefert was sitting in his barrack. He was polishing his gun, so that it would shine in the sun. Heinz was very proud of his gun. In fact, he was very proud to be soldier in the DDR-Army.
He had very good relations with the Red Army of the Soviets, that was still present in the country and he spoke Russian fluently.
When he was ready with the polishing of his gun, he stood up and left the barrack. He walked into the city to see the harbour of the city.
Rostock had the biggest harbour in the country and a lot of workers were working. He saw a couple of workers who were busy making a new oil pipeline and some others who were loading containers off a ship.
Heinz walked in the direction of the navy base, that could also be found in the harbour. When he arrived, a policeman halted him and asked for his ID-Card. Heinz showed it and could enter the navy base.
He saw a brand new destroyer and walked towards it. He could see the name of the ship: Ilya Mourometz. Suddenly, someone tapped on his shoulder. Heinz turned around and saw it was a marine.
"I can see you like the ship," the marine said.
"That's correct," Heinz answered, "how did we get this beauty?"
"Comrade Stalin gave it to us. He thought it was wise to give the DDR some new ships. In the following months, about twenty ships will be stationed here and in Wismar"
"Why would Stalin do that, you think?"
"I don't know"
The conversation turned into some chattering and half an hour later, Heinz returned to his barrack.

CIA-HEADQUARTERS, WASHINGTON DC, DECEMBER 12th 1949

William Rogers was calling Klaus Kaizer, his best spy in the DDR.
"Klaus, get every spy in your target country ready for operation "Käfer" (=Beatle). I repeat: get every spy ready for operation "Käfer". The plan will be executed the 24th of December, 1930 hours. Do you copy?"
"Yes sir," the other side said quietly"
"If there are any problems, call me."
"OK"
"Over and out"

The "Staatsratsgebäude" in Berlin

STAATRATSGEBÄUDE, BERLIN, DDR, December 24th 1949, 1900 hours

"Merry Christmas Comrades," Wilhem Pieck said and raised his glass. The others in the room did the same.
Outside the building, it was snowing really heavy and every citizen was inside, celebrating Christmas with relatives.
Still, there were three persons to be seen on the street. They crouched through the snow and hid between trees, so that no-one could see them.
When the three figures arrived at the Staatsratgebäude, they halted and waited.

STAATSRATSGEBÄUDE, BERLIN, DDR, December 24th 1949, 1920 hours

Inside the building the party was still going on. Wilhelm Pieck appeared to be a patry animal and was dancing with all the women present.
Outside, the three persons were still waiting.
"Initiate Operation Käfer in ten minutes," their leader, Klaus Kaizer, said.
"Stand by for operations," he added.
"How many guards can you see?" someone said.
"I can see... 2 no, make that 3 guards," Klaus replied, "Silenced guns ready?"
"Yes sir" the two others said.
"OK, now we'll wait"

STAATSRATSGEBÄUDE, BERLIN, DDR, December 24th 1949, 1930 hours

"OK guys, initiate operation Käfer" Klaus said. The three moved towards the entrance of the building. "Alea iacta est," Klaus thought.
"Who are you?" a guard asked them.
"We? That doesn't matter, let us in!" Klaus replied.
"No ID, no entrance"
The three pulled their guns out of their pockets and aimed them at the guards.
"Now I gently ask you: Can we enter the building?" Klaus said ironic.
"The enemies of the workers will not be allowed to ente......"
The three fired their guns and immediately the three guards dropped dead on the ground.
"Drag their bodies away from here," Klaus ordered and the other two dragged the bodies away and hid them in some bushes.
Now, the three entered the building and came into an empty hall. They climbed up a staircase and walked towards a balcony, from where they could overview the dance hall. Klaus aimed his gun and fired... thousands of seconds later, Wilhelm Pieck was dead.
The entire crowd started screaming and didn't notice the three spies leaving the building.

STAATSRATSGEBÄUDE, BERLIN, DDR, December 24th 1949, 2000 hours

The building was cleared so that the police could investigate the scene of the crime. The lifeless body of Wilhelm Pieck was carried away for research.
The commissioner of police was there too. He was walking in and around the building. When he came to some bushes, he was frightened to death: the bodies of three dead guards were hidden in the bushes and spread a sick-making smell.
The commissioner called some other policemen who took the bodies away for investigation.

FRONT PAGE ARTICLE FROM THE BERLINER ZEITUNG, December 25th 1949

"Yesterday the leader of our great state was killed in the Staatsratsgebäude. Investigations were started as soon as the police was on the scene.
The killer was probably not alone, as three guards, who were on duty that evening, were killed too. All the victims will be granted a state funeral.
Walter Ulbricht has been chosen as Piecks successor.

POLICE HEADQUARTERS, BERLIN, DDR, December 26th 1949

The investigations on the murder of Wilhelm Pieck were still busy.
The commissioner of police was sitting in his office, when someone knocked on the door.
"Enter," the commissioner said.
A policeman entered.
"Comrade commissioner, we've made some important discoveries in the case on the Christmas murder"
"Well, what have you found out?"
"We were searching the scene of the crime for trails, when we found this"
The policeman showed the commissioner a package of cigarettes.
"What's so special about that?" the commissioner said.
"Well, these cigarettes are Camel cigarettes, and those can't be bought in Eastern Europe," the policeman replied.
"So you mean..."
"... the murderer doesn't live in the DDR or anywhere else in Eastern Europe"
"Wow," the commissioner said, "this is already an international affair"
"But we found this out too:", the policeman said and he showed the commissioner a photograph of a bullet.
"This is the bullet that killed Wilhelm Pieck. It's from a silenced gun, only used by Americans. So we know that Americans killed Wilhelm Pieck"
These data were reported to the government who reported it to the Soviet government.

This could be the start of Doomsday. Also, I had an idea, you could make it a co-op fan fiction all following you idea but since it is fan-fiction, it does not need to resemble the game. Also, it would allow people to concentrate on other areas of the world without any one person doing massive amounts or writing. Just an idea to think about.

Ok, it just an idea, it probally wouldn't have worked anyway but it just came to me and I wanted to throw it out there on the odd chance you liked it.
