Doomsday editor bug ? version...

When i tried to change some effects in tech trees/apps/leaders... the game version changed! like STGZ -> HTZQ.......

What is going on ?

and sometimes after many modifying,the game won't start! it said my hearts of iron languages file crash or something.....

How can i safely use the editor ? and backup ?
